Zlatan Ibrahimovic was impressed by the Liverpool defender, until he was defended asking for a jersey swap


AC Milan superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic , openly gave sky-high praise to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate. The Swedish player even asked for a jersey exchange with Konate.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic admitted his admiration for Konate after AC Milan struggled with Liverpool on the sixth matchday of the Champions League group stage last week. In that match, the Rossoneri lost 1-2.

Konate dropped into a starter in the match. It was Konate’s second appearance in the Champions League with Liverpool. The 22-year-old appeared impressive in that match.

Not only impressed Jurgen Klopp, Konate was also in the spotlight of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The two players are often involved in direct duels throughout the game.

“I asked to exchange jerseys with Liverpool defender Konate. He won all the duels with me on the pitch and in the air,” Zlatan told ESPN , as quoted by Sportkeeda , Sunday (12/12/2021).

“I told him that he will be a great defender in the future and he will remember my words well,” added Zlatan Ibrahimovic .

Liverpool are the only English club to have won all of their group stage matches in Champions League history. As a result, the Reds qualify as group winners. On the other hand, AC Milan had to bury his dream of reaching the last 16 after the defeat.

Be a Motivator
On that occasion, Milan striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, also vowed to use the failure as motivation to bring his team to win the 2021/2022 Serie A.

I Rossoneri appear mighty in Serie A this season. Stefano Pioli’s side are top of the table with 38 points, one point ahead of Inter Milan in second.

Even so, AC Milan was not able to do much in the Champions League. Milan failed to continue its work in the last 16 phase.
