Why Mo Salah Prefers Liverpool to Face Madrid in the Champions League Final

LIVERPOOL — Liverpool striker, Mohamed Salah, admitted that he hoped to face Real Madrid more than Manchester City in the Champions League final. The Egyptian striker has a special mission regarding the choice of opponents for the Reds in the final match, which will be held at the Stade de France, Paris, 29 May

Liverpool secured a place in the Champions League final this season after getting rid of Villarreal on aggregate, 5-2. Despite being behind by two goals in the first half, the Reds were able to close the second leg of the semifinals with a win, 3-2, Wednesday (4/5). The Merseyside club is just waiting to win in the other semifinal match, between Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The Citizens won on aggregate by one goal after silencing Los Blancos at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg, 4-3. In the second leg, it will be Madrid’s turn to host City at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Thursday (5/5) early morning WIB. Salah also hopes that Los Blancos can reverse this situation and step into the Champions League final.

“Yes, I want to face Real Madrid. To be honest, Manchester City is a very strong team. We have faced them several times this season,” Salah said as quoted by Marca , Wednesday (4/5).

The 29-year-old striker also has strong enough reasons for his desire to face Real Madrid. Salah hopes to take revenge for Liverpool’s defeat to Real Madrid in the 2017/2018 Champions League final. At that time, the Reds had to bury their dream of becoming the best team in Europe because they gave up, 1-3, from Los Blancos

In the first round of the match which was held at the Olimpisky Stadium, Kiev, Salah could not perform optimally. The reason is, the former Fiorentina winger had to be pulled out due to a shoulder dislocation after being pulled by Madrid center back, Sergio Ramos.

”Personally, I prefer to face Real Madrid in the final. We lost to them in the last final. So, I want to face them again and be able to win over them,”said the collector of 30 goals from 46 matches in all competitions this season.
