Valentino Rossi’s protégé, Marco Bezzecchi, opened his adventure in MotoGP 2022 by taking part in a shakedown test session at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia, January 31 – February 2nd.
Marco Bezzecchi appeared for the satellite Ducati team, Mooney VR46 Racing Team which is owned by Valentino Rossi.
Previously, Marco Bezzecchi had just experienced riding a Ducati Desmosedici at the Jerez Circuit which did not have fast characteristics.
Now at Sepang, Marco Bezzecchi’s first opportunity to experience riding a Ducati Desmosedici on a track that can be launched at full speed.
Marco Bezzecchi, who was still performing in Moto2 last season, was surprised by the speed of the MotoGP bike .
“The bike is very fast. I was a little bit more impressed at Jerez because the first touch with the bike (MotoGP) and the track is narrow,” said Marco Bezzecchi.
“But here the speed of the bike is incredible. I think I made a speed of 335 km/h or close to that (which is 333.3 km/h). That’s incredible,” he continued.
Marco Bezzecchi also said that during the MotoGP shakedown test at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia, he used it to find a suitable riding position or racing position to beat the Ducati motorcycle.
The reason is that he received input from his teammate, Luca Marini, that this racing position is very crucial to be able to conquer the Ducati motorcycle.
“You could say I have found a very important racing position with the Ducati bike,” said Bezzecchi.
“I heard from Luca (Marini) throughout this winter that he complained a lot last year about this racing position.
“So I want to be absolutely sure about this. And also with Ducati, after Jerez, they have something they want me to try, for that position.”
There are four rookie riders in MotoGP 2022. Besides Bezzecchi, there are also the names of Remy Gardner, Raul Fernandez, and Fabio di Giannantonio.
