Transfer window: Aston Villa compete with Liverpool in pursuit of Andrea Pirlo’s signature from England

Liverpool are reported to now have serious competitors in their bid to bring in Calvin Phillips in the 2022 summer transfer market.

The threat came from Aston Villa, who are reportedly ready to do their utmost to secure the signature of the England national team midfielder.

Reports from Four Four Two even explain that Villa are ready to break their record buy again in order to get Phillips.

Villa even though they only broke a record when they signed Emi Buendia from Norwich City in the summer of 2021 at a price of 38.4 million Euros or 607 billion Rupiah.

Phillips is predicted to make Villa write a nominal twice as large as Buendia’s official price in their checkbook.

According to the Transfermarkt website, Phillips’ market price is ‘only’ in the range of 40 million Euros, but Leeds United as the club that owns the player wants to sell him for a high price of course.

Leeds only wants to negotiate if there is a club that dares to pay 60 million Euros (949 billion Rupiah) because Phillips’ contract still remains until June 2024 at Elland Road.

Villa were willing to accept the request after successful lobbying from their new manager, Steven Gerrard, who has performed well since being appointed as Dean Smith’s replacement.

Gerrard, who is a great Liverpool legend, promised Villa that next season he could achieve bigger targets if Phillips was in his squad.

The Villans already have some good midfielders in Douglas Luiz, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey but Gerrard wants more quality options going forward.

Minutes Play Big Points
If rumors of Aston Villa’s interest in Calvin Phillips are true, then Liverpool should be more vigilant in the transfer market.

The reason is that even though they have more interest in terms of big names, salaries and chances of winning trophies, the Reds don’t seem to be able to guarantee playing minutes.

Phillips will have to contend with many top players if he decides to land at Anfield despite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s departure for example.

Liverpool still have Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, a talented youngster duo like Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, plus captain Jordan Henderson.

Phillips also still has to compete with Fabinho, who is the player who cannot be evicted from Liverpool’s midfield at this time.

Meanwhile Villa will almost certainly give him a place in the starting XI. It is impossible for their most expensive player to put on the bench.

At the age of 26 years, Phillips is of course reluctant to return to his career as a second option, especially after at Leeds he was like a star player.

Phillips has also worked hard to build his current reputation where he has been carrying the nickname Pirlo from England since last season.

If you have to leave Leeds, which is a club that has made its name, Phillips certainly wants a guarantee of playing as a starter every week.

Whether he will choose Liverpool or Aston Villa later in the transfer market, it seems that Calvin Phillips still has to focus on healing his injury. Due to a hamstring problem, the Jamaican-blooded player has only appeared 12 times in the Premier League.

Juventus and Liverpool Ready to ‘Barter’ Dybala-Salah?
Italian League club Juventus are predicted to make unexpected maneuvers in the next summer transfer market to cope with the departure of Paulo Dybala.

The Serie A giants are reportedly ready to land one of the best strikers in the world today, Mohamed Salah, whose future at Liverpool remains unclear.

This news was published by the media from the country of Pasta, Corriere dello Sport, on Tuesday (22/03/22). Its roots are the desire of the Juventus coach, Max Allegri, to play a three-forward formation in the 2022/2023 season.

Due to various reasons, this dream has not yet been realized and Allegri is forced to continue to play only two attackers up front.

One with a left dominant foot will be very suitable if installed on the right wing. Together with Federico Chiesa who is now sidelined through injury, the two will flank Dusan Vlahovic.
