Tiger King season 2 is coming to Netflix later this year
The second season of the controversial reality/documentary about the big cats private zoo will land on the platform before the end of the year.
In 2020, Netflix left us with one of the most surreal documentary color reality shows we’ve had in recent years: Tiger King. The show follows the eccentric life of Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, the owner of a big cat private zoo who is currently serving a 22-year sentence for hiring an assassin to kill his “mortal enemy.”
The premise of the series, for those of you who haven’t seen it, is obvious, but its development is a journey into one of the most despicable aspects of the human species. A number of interviewees attest that there are things that just don’t quite work out in the heads of the two main protagonists, as well as their followers.
Despite how real Tiger King season 1 was, the show was a huge hit for Netflix, which went viral worldwide. Viewers are fascinated by the eccentric life seen in the series, and not just about the big cats.
It was so successful that Netflix brought a second season of Tiger King to its catalog. A preview of the platform’s upcoming documentary shows, among other things, stills from season 2 of Tiger King, which may arrive later this year (via Entertainment Weekly).
It is unknown what aspects the new season of this reality show/documentary will face. Many of those interviewed in season 1 faced significant legal issues.

In addition to Exotic, who is serving a sentence as we’ve said, Jeff Lowe and his wife, Lauren, “heirs” to the Joe Exotic zoo in Oklahoma, were indicted in the spring for violating the Endangered Species Act.
Doc Antle, another somewhat eccentric private zoo owner, was charged with trafficking in animal life last October. Erik Cowie, who testified against Exotic after working at the zoo as a caretaker, was found dead earlier this month.
Additionally, it is known that Carole Baskin, Joe Exotic’s arch nemesis, was unhappy with the way she was portrayed in season 1, where the mysterious disappearance of her first husband was also dealt with, casting a shadow of suspicion on her.
We’ll see what Tiger King season 2 has to offer us, and whether it manages to emulate the success of the first part.
