There are no star names, these are 3 Newcastle United transfer targets after becoming the Sultan’s club
Seeing three players who have the potential to be transfer targets for English Premier League club, Newcastle United, next season after being officially acquired by a Middle Eastern company.
English Premier League club Newcastle United is now a new rich club after being officially acquired by Saudi Arabia through the Public Investment Fund, on Thursday (07/10/21) night WIB.
Reported by the club’s official website, Newcastle United, which was previously owned by British businessman Mike Ashley, has now been officially acquired by an investor group driven by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Public Investment Fund.
PIF is headed by the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
An investor group consisting of the Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media has completed the acquisition of 100% ownership of the club based in St. James’ Park.
The Public Investment Fund itself became the largest investor by providing 80% of the funds for the acquisition process, and became the majority owner of the club.
Furthermore, the total cost of the acquisition is reported to have reached a value of 300 million pounds or around Rp. 5.8 trillion.
After confirmed to be a rich club, Newcastle United immediately prepared their transfer plans to welcome the English Premier League next season.
Eddie Howe’s team needs additional players in various sectors considering the team’s poor performance throughout the 21/22 season.
Interestingly, despite having abundant funds, Newcastle United is not predicted to spend heavily, in fact the players who are brought in later are not Europe’s top stars.
Here, INDOSPORT tries to summarize and review, three estimates of Newcastle United’s transfer targets for next season, as reported by the Sportkeeda page:
Hugo Ekitike
The first name is Hugo Ekitike. The young French-born striker is said to be a target for Newcastle United’s transfer in the summer.
Reims as the player’s current club, admits that Hugo Ekitike is eyed by the team based at St James Park.
Launching from a number of local French media, it was stated that the 19-year-old player was priced by his team for 30 million euros.
With the addition of a striker who is able to score 10 goals this season, it is expected to add to Newcastle United’s attack next year.
Reims club president Jean-Pierre Caillot explained that the player was also eyed by Manchester City, Chelsea, Wolves, West Ham United and Arsenal.
Matt Target
Matt Targett would be a great addition to the Newcastle United defence.
Given the arrival of Lucas Digne to Aston Villa will make it easier for The Magpies to recruit the player.
Eddie Howe admits that he admires the way the 26-year-old plays and believes his arrival will have a tremendous impact on the team.
However, to get Matt Targett, the Newcastle United camp had to struggle a little because the player was also being eyed by a number of other Premier League teams such as Leeds United, Leicester and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Jesse Lingard
The last name to be targeted by Newcastle United is Jesse Lingard.
The 29-year-old Manchester United player has become a bone of contention for many clubs such as West Ham, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid.
Lingard performed well during his loan spell with West Ham last season. This makes him the target of many clubs to get his services.
Guaranteed regular appearances will of course be offered by The Magpie considering the lack of quota to appear in the Red Devils this season.
Throughout the 21/22 season, Jesse Lingard has only played 22 games, scoring two goals and providing one assist in all competitions for Manchester United.
The number of goals is much less than when he was still strengthening West Ham United. Despite only playing 16 matches, the 29-year-old player managed to score 9 goals and provide 5 assists for the Hammers.
