The arrival of Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus makes Arsenal more like Man City, how come?

Arsenal are one of the fastest-moving clubs in the 2022 summer transfer window. The Premier League giants have so far recruited three new players.

The three new names in Mikel Arteta ‘s Arsenal squad are goalkeeper Matt Turner, winger Marquinhos and attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira .

Vieira became an important signing for Arsenal this summer. He was brought from Portuguese club, Porto for a transfer fee of 45 million pounds.

However, Arsenal will not stop here. The Gunners are still hunting for a number of other players ahead of the 2022/23 season starting.

The Arrival of Gabriel Jesus

One name that will soon be inaugurated as a new Arsenal player is Gabriel Jesus. He was reportedly brought in from Manchester City for a fee of 45 million pounds.

Jesus has now arrived in London and is undergoing a medical process before officially signing a five-year contract offered by Arsenal.

Jesus became the ideal replacement for Alexandre Lacazette whose contract was not renewed. Lacazette himself will return to his old club, Lyon.

Arsenal’s Attack Line

The arrival of Vieira and Jesus practically made Arsenal’s attack line even more dangerous. Vieira is a midfielder who tends to be offensive, while Jesus is a spearhead who can also be shifted to both sides of the wing.

Last 2021/22 season, Arsenal relied on two main figures on the front lines of his team. They are Bukayo Saka who usually occupies the right wing striker post and Martin Odegaard as an attacking midfielder.

With the presence of Vieira, Arteta now has more options at the attacking midfielder post. Meanwhile, the front trio seems to be filled with Saka, Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal Approaching Manchester City

As a coach, Arteta made the figure of Pep Guardiola as his main mentor. Arteta had three more seasons as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.

After dealing with Arsenal, Arteta is slowly trying to bring Guardiola’s Manchester City game philosophy to the London Cannon team.

Now with the arrival of Vieira and Jesus, Arteta’s great desire seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

Characteristics of Arsenal a la Manchester City

With the presence of Vieira and Odegaard as an attacking midfield duo, Arsenal’s attack can now become more balanced and cover all areas.

This is what Arteta and Guardiola did at Manchester City. He made his midfielders at the time, namely David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne, all able to play as ‘number 8 players’.

That way, the flow of the ball to the front lines will be more varied and of course it will make the opposing team more confused to guess the enemy’s attack.
