Thanks to 2 goals from centre-back, Arsenal silence West Ham


Arsenal continues the positive trend in the 2021/2022 English League. Visiting at the London Stadium on Sunday (01/05/2022) night WIB, the Gunners successfully beat West Ham United with a thin score of 2-1.

This victory makes Arsenal still comfortable in the fourth position standings. Mikel Arteta’s men pocketed 63 points or two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth position.

Arsenal also ordained themselves as strong candidates to finish in the top four, which means getting a ticket to the Champions League next season.

The course of the match

Arsenal took the lead in this match thanks to Rob Holding’s 38th minute header. The player who plays as a central defender took advantage of a corner kick from Bukayo Saka.

But WestHam forced the first half to end 1-1. This time Jarrod Bowen did a half-volley to beat Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal continued to hunt West Ham in the second half. The climax in the 54th minute, Gabriel Magalhaes brought Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead after taking advantage of Martinelli’s bait with a header.

What’s interesting is that both Magalhaes and Holding are both central defenders. Both of them contributed ciamik so the team got three points.

Arsenal bag an important 2-1 win over West Ham

Arsenal won the match against West Ham in the Premier League match which was held on Thursday (16/12/2021). The club nicknamed the Gunners came out as winners with a score of 2-0.

The duel which was held at the Emirates Stadium was quite fierce. Because, despite acting as a guest team, West Ham was still able to trouble Arsenal who played attacking.

The match was filled with quite hard physical contact. Arsenal several times asked for a penalty after some of his players furthest in the forbidden box. But the referee did not heed the request.

In the 39th minute, the Gunners almost scored. Bukayo Saka rummaged through the West Ham defense and the ball continued to roll until it reached Kieran Tierney’s feet. The Scottish defender then fired a shot which was saved by Lukasz Fabianski.

Arsenal had another golden opportunity in the last minute, which was again stopped by Fabianski. The referee ended the first half with the same position, 0-0. Arsenal immediately stepped on the gas as soon as the referee started the second half. Three minutes later, they got their first goal through Gabriel Martinelli, who received an assist from Alexandre Lacazette before aiming for the right corner of the West Ham goal. 1-0.

In this second half, Arsenal appeared more dominant and several times launched dangerous attacks. But West Ham have learned from their mistakes and organized their defense to be more difficult to penetrate.

Penalty! In the 68th minute, the referee pointed to the spot after seeing Alexandre Lacazette fouled by Vladimir Coufal. The defender from the Czech Republic received a second yellow card which left West Ham playing with 10 men.

Lacazette is believed to be the executor of the penalty. Unfortunately, he was not able to take advantage of this golden opportunity. The forward was aiming for the right side of the goal, but Fabianski’s shot was well read!

Goal! Arsenal doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 87th minute. West Ham are not ready to accept Arsenal’s counter-attack. Bukayo Saka dribbled near the penalty area before it was converted into a goal by Emile Smith Rowe.

West Ham could not take advantage of the remaining minutes to cut the distance, let alone equalize. Arsenal managed to maintain a 2-0 lead until the long whistle sounded at the Emirates Stadium.
