Ten Hag Gives Punishment to MU Players After Being Beaten by Liverpool 7-0
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was furious that his team suffered a humiliating 0-7 defeat at Liverpool in the English Premier League, Sunday (5/3/2023). Ten Hag immediately gave punishment to the MU players.
The 0-7 defeat to Liverpool really became a disgrace for Manchester United. This is the first time they have lost 0-7 since the start of the Premier League era in the early 1990s.
Overall the defeat at Anfield was the biggest in United’s history since 1931.
Ten Hag immediately gave punishment to the MU players so that they would be aware and not repeat the embarrassing mistake against Liverpool. MU players were asked to attend the training session the day after earlier than usual.
United players were asked to come to Carrington at 9am. Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag himself had arrived two hours earlier to discuss the embarrassing defeat to Liverpool .
Ten Hag also scolded the players when he left Anfield. The Dutchman said United’s players were lucky to still be able to return to Old Trafford on the team bus and not go home with the fans.
Erik ten Hag was disappointed after MU defeated Liverpool 0-7 in the Premier League 2022/2023 continuation at Anfield Stadium, Sunday (5/3/2023) evening local time.
If embarrassing defeats like against Liverpool happen again in the future, MU players will receive more severe punishment than Ten Hag. According to the Mirror , Ten Hag has threatened the players will be placed in the U-21 team if the 0-7 defeat is repeated.
The day after the defeat to Liverpool, MU players were also asked to take part in more sessions with sports psychologist Rainier Koers, who had just been recruited by MU a few months ago.
The Role of the Psychologist
“Ten Hag doesn’t want the players to go back to the bad days of last season so that’s why he wants them to work more with a sports psychologist,” a source told the Mirror at United.
Koers is a compatriot of Ten Hag. MU has used his services since the winter training camp in Cadiz during the 2022 World Cup break. Koers now regularly visits Carrington to help the MU squad.
