‘Kingsman’ actor Taron Egerton shocked audiences when he passed out in the middle of the opening night show of his new West End drama, ‘Cock’. He was a talented actor from a young age after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2012. Taron Egerton rose to fame after playing Gary Unwin in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ which was adapted from the comic Mark Millar. He often took on various interesting projects, including playing Elton John in Dexter Fletcher’s musical biopic, ‘Rocketman’, which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

Taron Egerton will take the stage for a preview of his new play, ‘Cock’, over the weekend at the Ambassadors Theater in London before opening on March 15 in a 12 week timeframe. ‘Cock’ tells the story of a gay couple played by Taron Egerton and Jonathan Bailey. Their relationship runs into trouble when a man questions his sexuality after meeting the girl of his dreams. The drama will star Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia) and Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials). The script for ‘Cock’ was written by Mike Bartlett and directed by Marianne Elliott.

Unfortunately, at the first show of ‘Cock’ on Saturday, March 5th, Taron Egerton collapsed on stage. The incident shocked the audience until director Marianne Elliot took the stage to pause to reassure the audience that Egerton was fine and could not continue the night’s performance. Fortunately, Egerton’s replacement, Joel-Harper-Jackson was able to fill the final scene of the play.

The next day, Taron Egerton made a new post on Instagram to reassure his followers that he is fine and will return to the stage with a vengeance the next day. He also thanked the team at the theater and his colleagues, especially Joel-Harper-Jackson whom he described as a wonderful and fun actor. Some of the audience reactions expressed their concern and hope for Taron Egerton while praising his performance in the early stages of the play.

While the situation wasn’t ideal, the response from fans was good to this incident, both in the theater and on social media. With understanding and empathy look at Taron Egerton humanely. As actors who often have full schedules can certainly harm their health if their rest and recovery are not taken into account. Now that the conversation about mental and physical health has become more open in recent years among people in the creative industries, it is hoped that they will prioritize their personal well-being over the work of art they are creating.

Regardless, Taron Egerton’s health seems to be improving as he is getting ready to return to the stage soon.
