The film CJ7 became the moment where Xu Jiao made his debut in 2008. At that time, he was 10 years old and played the main character of CJ7 who was a boy named Dicky. Xu Jiao played the character of Dicky when he was 10 years old. In the film, Dicky is told to have been bullied by his classmates.

Then, he met and befriended a green alien. For Xu Jiao, playing the character of Dicky became an emotional challenge. He even had time to feel afraid because he did not have the ability to experience acting before.
“CJ7’s filming was an experience that managed to traumatize me. He (Stephen Chow) is very strict and every shooting of each scene an average of 20 to 30 times,” said Xu Jiao. After three months of shooting, I thought the torture was over, but then I was called into the recording studio to voice the film.”
“Dubbing is the most difficult process for me, especially for a 10 year old child,” he explained.
Not only that, the woman who is now 24 years old also explained that she was forced to cry. Even his mother was called to the set to beat him.
“I couldn’t cry at a scene, and Mr. Chow asked my mother to come to the set to beat me. That’s how we managed to shoot for the scene,” he explained.
Nonetheless, Xu Jiao agreed with the opinion of many who said that his debut film was the best project he had ever worked on. “It is not surprising that they think that way, because I have never met a director as assertive as Mr. Chow. Being able to work with him is the luckiest thing that has ever happened in my life,” he said.
