Champions League: Tuchel turns out to have prepared 3 reasons if Chelsea lost to Malmo

Chelsea won the away match against Malmo in the 2021/2022 Champions League matchday 4, Wednesday (3/11/2021). Interestingly, he has prepared three reasons if his foster children ran aground in the match.

Chelsea are without four of their key players out through injury.

As a result, Tuchel had to rest a number of his core players in the duel. Ben Chilwell and Reece James for example, were left on the bench and instead, Tuchel fielded Cesar Azpilicueta and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Chelsea had to wait until the 56th minute to score despite having more than 70 per cent of possession throughout the game. Hakim Ziyech became the hero of the victory thanks to his only goal.

The victory was truly grateful for Tuchel who realized that the performance of a manager lately is determined by the final result. “Yeah, in the end we won.”

We need to win, we want to win, and we won,” said Tuchel again.

This is Chelsea’s third win in the 2021/2022 Champions League from four matches. The only defeat was obtained when visiting Juventus headquarters.

Have Prepared 3 Reasons
Chelsea did get more chances in the match versus Malmo. However, only one can tear the opponent’s goal.

Apart from the special appearance of the host goalkeeper, Johan Dahlin, throughout the 90 minutes of the match, Tuchel admitted that his attack line was not clinical so there were not many goals against Malmo.

In addition, Tuchel also turned out to have prepared three reasons if he lost. “We deserved this win, but there are many reasons we could stumble.”

“The pitch was bad, two tiring away games, player injuries too, but I don’t need those excuses because we won.”

PR buat Ziyech
Thomas Tuchel was delighted with Hakim Ziyech’s performance when Chelsea beat Malmo in the 2021/2022 Champions League continued, Wednesday (3/11/2021). However, he still demands that the lone goalscorer improve in two aspects.

We always rely on his work rate when he loses the ball, that’s his advantage,” Tuchel said after the game.

I see he is not 100 percent yet, but I am happy with his performance and Callum Hudson-Odoi,” he added.

After struggling hard, the Blues finally managed to break into Malmo’s goal in the 56th minute. A pass from Callum Hudson-Odoi was converted by Hakim Ziyech into a goal with a left footed shot.

The victory was crucial for Chelsea to keep hopes of qualifying for the knockout phase. The Blues are second in Group H with nine points, three points behind Juventus who occupy the top spot.

Start Finding the Best Touch
Even so, Hakim Ziyech was slowly starting to find his best touch. But Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel knows the Moroccan player is still not up to par.

“Yes, but I think there is still room to develop his decision-making abilities, his connections on the pitch, he has to be more consistent,” Tuchel said in Football London.

That is a big part of his performance,” added the German manager.

Can Still Be Better
Tuchel said he was satisfied with Ziyech’s performance and contribution. However, he knew very well that Hakim Ziyech could still do better. The player can contribute more to the team.

“He can be more lethal and maybe he can find his rhythm again. I think the shoulder injury makes it very difficult,” continued Tuchel.

Especially as a striker, he needs the ability to twist.”

I’m happy for him,” concluded Tuchel.
