Spanish League: Want Raheem Sterling, Barcelona Must Pay Rp 857 Billion

Barcelona are reportedly interested in getting Raheem Sterling in the January 2022 transfer market. However, Barca have to spend up to 45 million pounds (Rp 857 billion) to be able to attract Sterling.

Barcelona management has just appointed Xavi Hernandez as a new coach on November 6, 2021. Xavi replaces the role of Ronald Koeman who was sacked following minor results obtained this season.

Handling a club that has made his name, Xavi has a task that is not easy. Xavi Hernandez is expected to be able to boost the performance of Los Cules, which has been sluggish in the 2021/2022 season.

Currently, Barcelona is ranked ninth in the La Liga standings with 17 points, the result of four wins, five draws and three defeats from 12 matches that have been played.

As for the Champions League, Barca is in second place with a collection of six points, two points ahead of Benfica in third.

With this season’s game with two games remaining, Barcelona must wipe out a win if they want to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

Aim for Raheem Sterling
In order to boost Barcelona’s performance , Xavi Hernandez is eyeing a number of players. One name that wants to be brought to the Camp Nou is Raheem Sterling .

The Manchester City winger is believed to be able to make Barca’s attack line even sharper. The reason is, Sterling is a player who has accurate passes, often stabs into the opponent’s defense, and also scores goals.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has indicated he is ready to let Raheem Sterling go to Barcelona. Guardiola believes Barca will soon make an offer to woo the England national team winger.

Priced at IDR 857 Billion
It is reported that Manchester City Metro is ready to release Raheem Sterling in the January 2022 transfer market. The Citizens price the former Liverpool player at a price of 45 million pounds (Rp 857 billion).

The price is believed to be quite burdensome for Barcelona. The reason is, the Blaugrana are currently making savings due to the financial crisis.

If Barca fail to sign Raheem Sterling, a number of European clubs are also ready to woo the player from Real Madrid, Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Currently, the duration of Sterling’s work at Manchester City will end on June 30, 2023. He is still reluctant to extend his contract and wants to move to another club.

La Liga: Top 3 strikers on Barcelona’s radar for January 2022, all playing in the Premier League

Barcelona is reportedly prioritizing the purchase of strikers in the January 2022 transfer market. The addition of attackers is crucial to strengthen the Blaugrana squad.

Last week, Barcelona president Joan Laporta hinted that he would bring in three new players in January. However, because of Barca’s financial situation, the number of players recruited depends on how many people will be sold.

But, for sure Barcelona will look for a new striker, although there has been no decision whatsoever. According to Marca , Wednesday (11/10/2021), there will be a brief meeting between the club’s board to discuss who will be brought in.

Barca really need a striker because Sergio Aguero is certain to be out for a long time because of heart problems. Luuk de Jong’s loan period will also be shortened until January only. As a result, the stock of the attack line is very thin.

Martin Braithwaite will return to the squad after recovering from injury. However, Barcelona do not know for sure when the player will fully recover and return to play.

Raheem Sterling Leading
Barcelona realized the financial situation at the club made it impossible to buy an elite level striker. A realistic alternative is to borrow players whose loan nominal is cheap or free.

Barcelona’s sporting director is reportedly looking for quality players who don’t play regularly at his club and want to leave for Camp Nou.

Who falls into that category?

One of the players who is widely mentioned is Manchester City striker, Raheem Sterling. The player is reportedly not happy because his playing time is very minimal.

So far, he has played just 376 minutes in the Premier League, which is the equivalent of just four full games. Sterling wants a bigger role in the team and Barcelona are willing to give it.

Two More Targets
Two other players who are also on Barcelona’s radar are Edinson Cavani (Manchester United) and Timo Werner (Chelsea).

Cavani has been linked with Barcelona since the summer of 2021, because his position is indeed a center forward with a capable track record. However, his age is a record, because it has reached 34 years. He can only be an option on a six-month loan.

Timo Werner was also a target for Barca before joining Chelsea. Since the arrival of Romelu Lukaku to West London, he has struggled to get playing time. Werner has only played 388 minutes this season.
