Paramount Not Showing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in Russia

In light of Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine, Paramount Pictures said Tuesday that it will stop distribution of the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in Russia.

After weeks of tense military buildup along their common border, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Russia has pledged to help the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk in their bid for independence. The invasion has been condemned by countries around the world, with many expressing solidarity with Ukraine. As a result of the invasion, Russia was subject to economic sanctions, and artists and creative studios have delayed the release of some works in the country. Disney, Universal Pictures and Sony are among the Hollywood studios that have halted releases in the country.

On April 8, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be released in the United States.
