Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is ahead of becoming MU’s new owner
Manchester – The Glazers have set February 17, 2023 as the deadline for applicants to submit an offer to buy Manchester United . Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jum Ratcliffe have also filed publicly.
In fact, Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe submitted their offers ahead of the deadline set by the Raine Group. The Raine Group is the party that handles the MU takeover process on behalf of the Glazer family.
n February, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani released a statement confirming his offer. “This bid plans to return the club to its former glory, both on and off the field, and – above all – will seek to put fans at the heart of Manchester United Football Club once again,” said Sheikh Jassim.
“This offer will be completely debt-free through Sheikh Jassim’s Nine Two Foundation, which will invest in the football team, training centre, stadium and wider infrastructure, fan experience and community supported by the club.”
Second round
A report, recently, claims Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have advanced to the second round in Manchester United’s takeover proceedings from the Glazer family.
Although both have made it through to the next stage, it is believed that their bids are below the asking price. As previously reported, the Glazer family paid a price of 6 billion pounds, or around Rp. 110 trillion.
Despite failing to meet the Glazer family’s asking price, Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe will now be in further talks with the Raine Group about a potential takeover.
According to RMC Sport, Sheikh Jassim appears to have the edge over Ratcliffe and is in pole position to buy the Premier League giants. The offer from Qatar would free United from its debt without the need for a loan, something Ratcliffe was unwilling to do.
The report also claims Erik ten Hag’s job will be secure if the bid from Qatar is successful. Moreover, the transfer plan has been prepared.
Split
The Glazers are reportedly split over a possible sale of Manchester United. Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer are reluctant to give up control of the club. Meanwhile the other four members of the Glazer family want to benefit from their initial investment.
The report from ESPN claims that club staff have been told there will be ‘clarification’ over the ownership situation at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, on the field, MU will try to get back on their feet after being slaughtered by Liverpool 0-7 in the Premier League continued, Sunday (5/3/2023). The Red Devils will face Real Betis in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16, Friday 10 March.
