Sequel to a Hollywood movie that starts right at the end of the previous film

1. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) version of Spider-Man has now developed into a trilogy. In the second MCU version of Spider-Man, Far From Home (2019), Spider-Man faced Mysterio and managed to defeat the villain. But in his death, Mysterio still managed to make Spider-Man go crazy.

So before his death, Mysterio made a video revealing that Spider-Man was Peter Parker. In the mid-credits scene of Far From Home, J. Jonah Jameson of the Daily Bugle broadcasts his video of Mysterio to the public. Far From Home also closed with a scene showing Spider-Man and MJ surprised to see Mysterio’s video broadcast.

The sequel to Far From Home, No Way Home, opened immediately with the Daily Bugle broadcasting a video of Mysterio, just like what happened in the mid-credits of Far From Home. Through No Way Home, we can finally see that Spider-Man was panicked by Mysterio’s video and tried to run away from people’s pursuit.

2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

After acquiring Lucasfilm in 2012, Disney certainly didn’t waste time working on their version of Star Wars. In 2015, Disney released The Force Awakens (2015) as the first Star Wars film to be directed by Disney. This film managed to make fans excited because it featured Luke Skywalker at the end of the film.

In the final scene of The Force Awakens, Rey arrives on a planet called Ahch-To. Well, it was on this planet that Rey met Luke. Without saying a word, Rey handed the lightsaber to Luke who was staring at him. Then, the scene was made to hang just like that. The story of The Force Awakens continues into its sequel, entitled The Last Jedi.

The Last Jedi first opens with a battle scene between the Resistance and the First Order. After that scene, we finally get to see Rey thrusting the lightsaber at Luke, just like the end of The Force Awakens. Not well received, Luke even threw away the lightsaber that was proffered by Rey.

3. Incredibles 2 (2018)

Prior to acquiring Marvel Studios, Disney had also worked on their own superhero films, one of which was The Incredibles (2004). This animated film is about a superhero couple who are trying to get away from their superhero life with their three children. However, the presence of Syndrome finally made Mr. Incredible and his family must come out to be superheroes.

Mr. cooperation. Incredible, his wife (Elastigirl), and their children beat Syndrome. Three months after Syndrome’s defeat, Mr. Incredible and his family face off against a new villain named Underminer. Have not had time to see their fight, the film The Incredibles ended with a hanging ending.

14 years after the release of The Incredibles, Disney has finally released a sequel, entitled Incredibles 2. The sequel opens with the Incredible family fighting scene with the Underminer. Imagine, it took 14 years for us to witness the fight!

4. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)

The first live action film adapted from the game Mortal Kombat was released in 1995. Although it was not well received by critics, the first Mortal Kombat film was quite successful and was followed by a sequel, entitled Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. In the first film, Liu Kang and the other characters face off against Shang Tsung.

Just as Liu Kang, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Kitana were celebrating their victory over Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn suddenly appeared in the sky to declare war. The first Mortal Kombat film closed hanging by showing Liu Kang and other characters getting ready to fight Shao Kahn.

The continuation of the Mortal Kombat ending is then shown in the opening scene of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Shao Kahn descended from the sky with his army and fought Raiden. In the midst of his fight, Shao Kahn shocked fans by killing Johnny in the first five minutes of the film!

5. John Wick: Chapter 3

Keanu Reeves has starred in quite a few action films, including the John Wick trilogy. After chasing his dog killer in the first film, John Wick is forced to return to his old life as a hitman in the second film. John did this to fulfill his blood oath to the Italian mafia.

At the end of John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), John meets Winston after he kills Santino D’Antonio. Winston reveals that John is a fugitive from the High Table, who offers a bounty to anyone who catches John. Winston gave John an hour before his hunt officially began.

John Wick: Chapter 2 concludes with a scene of John running with his dog. Then, the sequel, entitled John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum opens with a scene of John and his dog still running, continuing the ending scene of the second film. The High Table set up a bounty of $14 million for whoever caught John.
