Mickey 17 is Bong’s first film since parasite, which became the highest-grossing South Korean film ever, as well as the first non-English language film to win the Best Picture Oscar. Of its six Academy Award nominations, it took home awards for Original Screenplay, Director, and International Feature.

Warner Bros. has several high-profile releases scheduled for 2024, including The Lord of the Rings: The Rohirrim War (April 12), the spin-off of Mad Max, furious with Anya Taylor-Joy (May 24) and Joker: Folie à Deux (October 4) Starring joaquin phoenix and Lady Gaga.

In addition to writing and directing, Bong will also produce the upcoming film through his company Offscreen. Other producers include Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner and Kate Street Pictures’ Dooho Choi. Peter Dodd will oversee on behalf of Warner Bros.
