Synopsis of the film Wrath of Man tells the story of a man with the nickname “H” (Jason Statham) who applies for a job as a security guard at a money delivery service company. Check out the trailer first below.
Intense and Gloomy Heist Movie
The film opens with a scene of a truck robbery by a group of people accompanied by a shootout. Uniquely, this tense scene is shown in POV like a surveillance camera in a truck carrying millions of dollars. The audience may wonder what really happened, because apart from the robbery scene, there was another commotion outside the truck, which the facts could be answered in later scenes.
Interestingly, the film, directed by Guy Ritchie, forms a non-linear storyline. For those who are not familiar, it can be boring because it keeps being carried to a new sequence stack. But on the other hand, this non-sequential storyline actually raises curiosity, especially on who the H figure really is, why from the start he was shown as an ordinary man, then what does that have to do with the robbery incident at the beginning of the film.
Well, like fiction, this film has a sentence as the opening title which functions like an action act. Uniquely, the sentence seems to be the answer or conclusion to what H.
Each round of each chapter leads the audience to a common thread that all these non-linear events are a part of the past and H’s revenge. There are sentences that mark each act , reminding this film of Pulp Fiction (1994), one of Quentin Tarantino’s works.

The longer, the round appears more sadistic and gloomy. The robbery at the beginning of the scene is actually nothing compared to the action thriller scenes that follow. Especially if you watch it at the Dolby Atmos studio cinema, it is guaranteed that you will be literate and carried away nervously throughout the film.
Jason Statham vs. Everybody
It seems Jason Statham is indeed suitable to be an actor who specializes in action films . His role, which is often an antihero, has become his image since Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) which became his first meeting with Guy Ritchie.
The London-born actor has always been a cool tough guy that no one can beat. His role as H in Wrath of Man also shows that he is tough, sadistic, scary, and has nine lives.
Even so, Ritchie gives a different touch to H, a mafia whose motives are based on the nature of his family man . Thus, Statham does not appear as an expressionless killing machine. In Wrath of Man , he is a father who demands his version of justice. As H, Statham threatens throughout the film whose threats are implied in Johnny Cash’s soundtrack called “Folsom Prison Blues.”
Previously, they worked together on the films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Snatch (2000), and Revolver (2005). Through this film, Ritchie managed to present a crime thriller that is full of suspense , gripping throughout the film, intense, two parallel stories that unite, plot twist , and a satisfying ending.
Character Development Decorated with Shooting Skills
Guy Ritchie actually doesn’t want to waste his players. Most even have fair, non-pushy character development. A group of robbers at the beginning of the scene for example, they are not just ordinary robbers. One interesting thing about Jackson, his storytelling style reminds us of the figure of The Professor in the Money Heist series .

Then, there’s Bullet (Holt McCallany) and Boy Sweat Dave (Josh Hartnett), both of whom experience character changes that are the opposite of what was told at the beginning. Then, there is Jan (Scott Eastwood), Jackson’s confidant, who hints at the change in his character from the start. The reason is, from a group of Jackson’s gang, only Jan has more duration to appear. Oh yes, this is the second time Jason Statham and Scott Eastwood have co-starred together after the film The Fate of the Furious (2017)
