Review Chelsea Needs a Last Minute Goal to Defeat Newcastle United


Chelsea were forced to work hard when they met Newcastle United in the 2021/2022 Premier League match on Sunday (13/03/2022) night WIB.

How not, despite playing at home, Stamford Bridge, Chelsea just scored a goal in the 89th minute through the action of Kai Havertz.

Victory makes Chelsea still in third place standings. Thomas Tuchel’s team collected 59 points or ten points behind the leaders of the standings, Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are in 14th position with 31 points.

Chelsea and Newcastle United both looked bad at the start of the game. Both teams struggled to create chances. There is no golden opportunity until the game runs for 25 minutes.

Chelsea had the first opportunity in the 27th minute. Hakim Ziyech’s corner was struck by Mason Mount, but the ball still missed the target.

Newcastle almost stole a goal in minute 34. Matt Target’s cross was continued by Dan Burn. Luckily for Chelsea, the ball was still wide of Edouard Mendy’s goal.

Just before half-time, Newcastle should have taken the lead if Miguel Almiron’s volley had not been saved by Mendy.

Second round – In ten minutes of the second half, Chelsea had a chance through Timo Werner. Unfortunately Werner’s ball control was poor so that the round skin could be secured by Martin Dubravka.

To add to the pounding power, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel included Romelu Lukaku and Mateo Kovacic.

Chelsea got the most ripe opportunity in this match in the 76th minute. Ziyech’s sweet pass was continued by Kai Havertz, but the ball went straight to Dubravka.

Chelsea’s deadlock was finally solved in the 89th minute. Havertz this time did not waste the golden opportunity he got. Havertz coolly completed a spoiled pass from Jorginho.
