Real Madrid path to the Champions League final

Real Madrid has reached its 17th Champions League final. This was the path of the ‘Merengue’ to the final.

Real Madrid’s group was similar to last season’s, with the only difference being the modest Sheriff of Tiraspol.

The first game was a difficult challenge, it was time to travel to Italy with the current champion of Serie A, Inter Milan.

A match that was resolved in the 89th minute with Rodrygo ‘s goal , which gave Madrid the first victory in the Champions League.

The first game at the Bernabéu did not go as everyone thought, the Sheriff did the epic and beat ‘Merengue’ 1-2.

Real Madrid travels to Ukraine for matchday 3 of the UCL, the team crushed Shaktar Donetsk 0-5 with 2 goals from Vinicius JR, 1 from Rodrygo, 1 from Benzema, and an own goal from Serhiy Kryvtsov.

The second leg at the Bernabéu with Shaktar was a little more difficult, but the ‘Merengues’ won 1-2, with a brace from Benzema.

On matchday 5, Madrid traveled to Moldova to ‘get revenge’ on the Sheriff. The ‘Merengues’ won 0-3 with goals from Alaba, Kroos and Benzema.

Madrid was already qualified for the round of 16, all that remained was to define the first of the group with Inter.

Real Madrid would win the match 2-0, with goals from Marco Asensio and Toni Kroos.

Real Madrid in the round of 16
In the draw for the Round of 16, they had been awarded one of the easiest, SL Benfica, but this had to be repeated and they had been awarded PSG by Messi, Neymar and Mbappe.

In the match, Madrid fell back in the first leg and although the entire game was 0-0, Lionel Messi missed a key penalty , but in the last minute Mbappe would score 1-0.

In the second leg at the Bernabéu, PSG played better than Madrid and Mbappe had a goal disallowed. Later he would score another valid one that for many would leave Madrid eliminated.

However, for the last 45 minutes, Mbappe would have another goal disallowed, but Donnarumma would make a mistake for the 1-2 aggregate.

The two sudden goals would make Real Madrid come back from the series and qualify for the quarterfinals.

Quarter finals
For the quarterfinals, Ancelotti’s team had to face defending champions Chelsea. In the first leg in England, Madrid would win 1-3 with a hat-trick from Benzema.

Chelsea in the second leg would go with everything, with 15 minutes remaining, Chelsea won 0-3, also with a disallowed goal.

However, Rodrygo would score at 80′ and send everything into extra time. There, Benzema would put definitive figures on the scoreboard, 2-3, for the ‘Merengue’ classification.

Semifinals and new comeback
For the semifinals, Madrid would have Pep Guardiola ‘s ‘ City ‘ . In the first leg, with a great game, ” Merengue ” would lose 4-3, but with good feelings knowing that they could have lost by more.

The second leg was a match in which both had chances to score the first goal, but at 73’ Mahrez opened the scoring.

Everything seemed lost for Madrid, in addition to the fact that Manchester City could score 0-2 at any time.

But in a minute, Real Madrid , with two goals from Rodrygo , would do the epic and send everything to extra time.

A penalty against Benzema in minute 93 and his subsequent goal in minute 95 would make the ‘ merengue miracle ‘.

As much as Manchester City attacked and had clear scoring options, they could not score and Madrid qualified for the UCL final .

Real Madrid is only 90 minutes away from his 14th ‘orejona’. The rival to beat will be Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who will seek their 7th Champions League.
