Real Madrid or Barcelona is cooler, but why did Sadio Mane choose to join Bayern Munich


Sadio Mane is one of the best wingers in recent seasons. Although Liverpool failed to win the Champions League title in the 2017/18 season, Mane was a goal machine for the Reds. The Senegalese star managed to score seven goals in seven knockout games in the Champions League that season.

Since the last few days, Sadio Mane has been linked with Bayern Munich. Both Liverpool and Bayern have reportedly reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Mane to the Allianz Arena.

Sadio Mane’s move to Bayern Munich is on the verge of materializing. However, Scottish football legend Ally McCoist has questioned Mane’s decision to move to the German club.

“Is it because he wants to play in another country? Possible. Will he go to a better league? No,” McCoist told talkSPORT.

“Will he go to a more competitive league? No. Will he go to a better team? No. I find it very strange.”

According to McCoist, Mane will make much more sense when moving to Barcelona or Real Madrid. However, Mane did not.

“I can actually understand it better if it’s Real Madrid or Barcelona. I can understand it better, because maybe the lure of one of those clubs, especially Real Madrid,” he explained.

Bayern Munich are negotiating a third offer worth around 32 million euros, which could balloon to 40 million euros. Liverpool finally accepted this offer.
