Real Madrid Detained to Real Betis Draw, Carlo Ancelotti Calls His Squad Less Efficient
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti criticized the performance of his team after being held to a draw by Real Betis in the Spanish La Liga 2022/2023 continued match. He considered Los Blancos’ appearance to be less efficient, especially on the front lines.
As is known, Real Madrid failed to score a single goal when they visited Real Betis headquarters on Monday (6/3/2023). Karim Benzema and his friends were only able to record a 0-0 draw until the referee blew the long whistle.
This condition makes Los Blancos’ task even more difficult if they want to defend the La Liga title they won last season. Carletto’s foster children must catch up to a nine-point deficit from Barcelona who are comfortably perched at the top of the standings.
Launching the Espana Football report , El Real did indeed seem to have difficulty making a significant impact when they appeared at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. The existence of key players in the starting XI was not enough to make Los Blancos ferocious in that match.
The draw against Real Betis marked the second time in a row that Los Blancos appeared toothless without a goal. As is well known, Real Madrid had also previously been beaten 0-1 by the Blaugrana during the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg duel, Friday (3/3/2023).
“We were less efficient up front. In the first half, (the game) was more open and there was probably more space to create opportunities,” said Carlo Ancelotti regarding the performance of his foster children.
“Right now, we lack efficiency. We dribbled the ball more, but rarely shot. That makes us rarely score goals in the last three matches, “continued the coach.

Furthermore, Carlo Ancelotti also highlighted the lack of opportunities his team could create at home to Real Betis.
Even so, he still appreciates the players at the back. According to him, the appearance of the Los Blancos defense was quite good because it managed to prevent El Real from conceding until the end of the match.
“Today we had three or four clear chances. Fortunately, we performed well at the back (line) because we are much better at that position,” said the Real Madrid coach after the match, as quoted by Football Espana.

Real Betis, who appeared in front of their own supporters, was able to suppress the visiting team’s defense. Manuel Pellegrini’s squad even almost opened the scoring through Ayoze Perez.
However, his hard shot from the edge of the penalty box which received a pass from Miranda was thwarted by Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Real Madrid was actually able to control the game. Several times Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema made Real Betis’ defense difficult. However, there was not a single opportunity that could produce a goal.

In this match, Benzema’s goal in the 12th minute was disallowed by the VAR and Los Blancos were only able to play out a goalless draw with Real Betis.
The two teams were still trying to trade in attacks in the second half. Real Madrid almost took the lead through the action of mainstay striker Karim Benzema, if only his shot failed to be dammed by Claudio Bravo.
On the other hand, Real Betis were also able to create a golden opportunity in the 53rd minute. Borja Iglesias has enough open space for shooting. However, the pla
yer’s execution was still blocked by Courtois.
Real Madrid was still not efficient enough to approach the end of the game. The series of opportunities they got were unable to take advantage of breaking the deadlock. No goals were created until the long whistle sounded. Score 0-0 was the final result of this fight.
