Qualify for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup! Drama of 5 Goals in Second Half, Indonesian U-20 National Team Defeat Vietnam

The U-20 Indonesian national team was able to beat Vietnam U-20 in the final match of Group F Qualifying for the U-20 Asian Cup 2023.

They won 3-2 in the match which was held at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Sunday (18/9/2022) night.

This result made the Indonesian U-20 national team successfully penetrate the final round of the U-20 Asian Cup 2023 in Uzbekistan with the status of Group F winners.

They managed to collect nine points alias always won in three qualifying matches.

First Half Beginning
The Indonesian U-20 national team immediately appeared pressing at the beginning of the match. Opportunities appeared in the fourth minute after Kakang Rudianto released a cross which was met with a half-volley by Ronaldo Kwateh.

Unfortunately, Ronaldo’s kick ball could be blocked by goalkeeper Cao Van Binh. The vomit ball then tried to be solved by striker Hokky Caraka who was in the penalty box. However, his shot deviated from the goal.

The game became tighter because both teams were equally strong in defending the ball. Only in the 19th minute, it was Zanadin Fariz’s turn to give the ball to Kakang. From outside the penalty box, Kakang fired a shot that was still soaring.

Two minutes later, Vietnam tried to press through a quick counter-attack. It was Nguyen Thanh Nhan who provided the through ball to striker Nguyen Quoc Viet.

From outside the penalty box Quoc Viet fired hard in the 2nd minute which also bounced.

First Half Ends 0-0

The Indonesian U-20 national team attack continued with threats in the 35th minute. This time, Frengky Missa had the opportunity to shoot by utilizing a pass from Arkhan Fikri. But, also not lead to the goal.

In the remaining time in the first half, Muhammad Ferarri et al. still trying to press to score the first goal. However, no goals were created in the first half and the score of glasses, aka 0-0, adorned half-time.

Second Half Goal Flood
The second half began with the efforts of the U-20 Indonesian National Team to continue to carry out attacks. Several times the tight pressure of the Vietnamese players made it difficult for them to get into the defense.

The awaited goal was finally created in the 60th minute. Starting from an effort to comb the left side, Frenky Missa sent a pull bait to Marselino Ferdinand. The Persebaya Surabaya midfielder was successful in releasing a hard shot from outside the penalty box that failed to be dammed.

Vietnam also managed to reply to that goal in the 66th minute. They made a quick counter-attack through Khuat Van Khang who gave Nguyen Thanh Nhan a draw. Foot on Ferrari which is considered an own goal.

Victory for the Indonesian National Team
Vietnam then turned ahead by scoring the second goal in the 79th minute. Again, a quick counterattack started from Nguyen Ahn Tu to Thanh Nhan. The ball was passed to Dinh Xuan Tien who moved freely and opened fire.

Vietnam’s advantage did not last long. The Indonesian U-20 national team responded and made the score 2-2 in the 82nd minute. This time, Ferarri scored with a header using a corner kick. This seems to make amends for an own goal.

Only three minutes later, entering the 85th minute, coach Shin Tae-yong cheered, raised his hands and jumped. The reason, the Indonesian U-20 national team turned superior and made the score 3-2.

The winning goal was born through the action of Alfriyanto Nico who combed the right side. He also fired a shot that led thinly to the goal line. Rabbani Tasnim also pushed the ball and made the stadium rumble.

Indonesia Passed!
In the remaining time, the competition is getting fiercer. referee Ammar Ebrahim blew the long whistle with a 3-2 victory for the Indonesian U-20 national team.

This result made the Indonesian U-20 national team directly qualify for the finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup with the status of Group F winners.

Meanwhile, Vietnam, who was the runner-up, still depends on the results of the other group matches in this qualifier.
