Manchester United are reportedly set to activate the option of one year extension in Bruno Fernandes’ contract.
If all goes well, the Portuguese attacking midfielder will continue to play in the Premier League until June 2026.
According to leaked information from a well-known journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Fernandes and United are close to an agreement after starting negotiations since July 2021.
If you refer to the news released by The Telegraph on Thursday (24/03/22), Fernandes’ new contract can be officially announced after this international break.
Fernandes will also get a significant salary increase after performing well in his two years at Manchester Red.
For now, the former Sampdoria and Sporting Lisbon ‘only’ receive around 180,000 Pounds per week or the equivalent of 3.4 billion Rupiah.
With this nominal, the 27-year-old playmaker ranks eighth in the salary hierarchy at Old Trafford.
The fees are still less expensive than Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, and even Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire, who are currently experiencing a decline in performance.
Indeed an increase to 240,000 Pounds will not make Fernandes into the top six but at least he will feel more appreciated.
Fernandes in the last two years has always been able to prove that he can become a star both on and off the field thanks to his skills and personality.
Ready to rely on Ten Hag
Bruno Fernandes’s willingness to stay longer with Manchester United may be an indication that he has been included in the plans for the new manager of the Red Devils.
The other day, the 20-times Premier League champions had made contact with Erik ten Hag, who has often been linked with Ralf Rangnick’s position.
The result of the meeting left a good impression and it looks like Ten Hag will be the chosen manager although United still have to select a number of other candidates.
One of the most likely discussed is whether Ten Hag wants to make Fernandes a key player.
If the answer is no, it seems quite impossible that Fernandes will write a pen on United’s proposal.
As a tactician with a tendency to play possession-based tactics, Ten Hag clearly needs a creative figure in midfield like Fernandes.
Fernandes’ individual stats alone are too glaring to ignore. Since his debut in the Premier League in February 2020, he is the second player with the most passes into the opponent’s penalty box (653).
Manchester United are increasingly looking to lose Bruno Fernandes as he is the best in the midfield class in terms of shots (230), chances created (201), goals (35) and assists (25).
Ten Hag Hunt Assistant with Man United DNA
Erik ten Hag reportedly already has an idea of what kind of revolution he will promote if he becomes the new manager of Manchester United next season.
One of the keys to success he needs is an assistant coach who comes from the same country as him, the Netherlands, but has experience at Old Trafford so that his adaptation to the Premier League can be completed more quickly.
This report came from The Times on Thursday (24/03/22). In cash, a number of speculations about who will be Ten Hag’s guide at United also spread.
If you want an assistant with a long training experience, then Ten Hag will probably stick to two names. The first is Rene Meulensteen. He was Sir Alex Ferguson’s last former assistant before retiring in 2013.
Meulensteen is currently working as an assistant coach in the Australian national team and it will likely not be difficult for Ten Hag to get hold of.
