Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer , is reportedly more wary of facing Chelsea’s threat in the 2021/2021 Premier League title race.
According to the report, quoted by the Mirror, Sunday (5/9/2021), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers Chelsea more frightening than Manchester City and Liverpool.
That is, Solskjaer considers Chelsea as Manchester City’s toughest rival this season. Moreover, the Blues have shown significant changes since being handled by Thomas Tuchel who replaced Frank Lampard in the middle of last season.
The Red Devils this season want to be able to win the Premier League again, and other trophies. Manchester United has been on a drought of titles since winning the Europa League in 2017, which was won during the Jose Mourinho era.
The Red Devils have been fasting for the Premier League title since 2013, or Sir Alex Ferguson’s last year in charge of Manchester United.
In a bid to close the gap between Manchester City and Liverpool, the Manchester United boss has backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with sufficient funds. United even signed several top stars this summer, including bringing home Cristiano Ronaldo.
The gap is still big
It was the best achievement in the league under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Manchester United doesn’t seem to be able to compete with Manchester City. At the end of the season, the Red Devils are still 12 points behind City.
That factor made MU immediately step on the gas in the 2021 summer transfer market. They brought in three stars at once, namely Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United Attraction
Previously, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Ronaldo’s return showed United’s unique appeal.
Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Manchester United after 12 years of leaving Old Trafford. Nine years spent at Real Madrid then continued at Juventus for three years.
“You run out of words to describe Cristiano. He is not only an extraordinary player but also a great human being,” said Solskjaer, as quoted from the club’s official website.
Solskjaer insists Ronaldo’s comeback proves the unique appeal of Manchester United.
