Premier League: Antonio Conte mocks Chelsea about failing to take advantage of Romelu Lukaku’s talent

Antonio Conte hints at Chelsea about the transfer of Romelu Lukaku. Interestingly, the insinuation came out of Conte’s mouth ahead of the duel between Chelsea vs Tottenham.

Tottenham will meet Chelsea in Week 2 of the 2022/2023 Premier League, Sunday 14 August 2022.

The match between the London club will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, live on SCTV and Video starting at 23.30 pm WIB.

Tottenham and Chelsea both won in the first week. Tottenham won 4-1 against Southampton and are now at the top of the Premier League standings. The Blues won 1-0 when playing at Everton headquarters.

However, it is not the performance of the two teams that is the main focus. Romelu Lukaku, who is an Inter Milan player, became an interesting topic ahead of the Chelsea vs Tottenham duel.

Lukaku was bought expensively by Chelsea but failed to shine
Romelu Lukaku was bought at a high price by Chelsea at the start of the 2021/2022 season. However, in the middle of the season, Lukaku was not included in the plans of manager Thomas Tuchel. Lukaku’s transfer failed miserably.

Conte has coached Lukaku at Inter Milan. In the hands of Conte, Lukaku has transformed into a goal-hungry striker. Their collaboration was even able to lead Inter Milan to end Juventus’ dominance in Serie A.

“Romelu Lukaku was at Milan (Inter Milan) two years and he was king. The fans showed him a lot of support and I think he is the man who needs this,” Conte said.

But, for sure, the purchase of Lukaku is a good transfer for Chelsea,” continued the figure who was once Chelsea manager.

Had Looked Good
Lukaku had performed well at the start of the 2021/2022 season. However, there are some problems that make his name sink.

Lukaku began to often sit on the bench. The performance of the Belgian player is far from optimal.

Confidence Down
I remember very well when he started playing last season, was very good and the media kept talking about him,” Conte said.

“Many things can happen until confidence drops. Now it’s right for him to play for an important club in Italy and try to regain his confidence. But we are talking about a very important striker, very good,” said Conte.
