AS Roma is one of the top clubs competing in the top caste of the Italian League. In the 2016/2017 season, the club nicknamed the Giallorossi brought in a number of top players to strengthen the team.

AS Roma can be said to be very productive in bringing players in that season. At least, there are five names of top players brought in by AS Roma. Who are the players in question?

1. Alisson Becker

Before becoming Liverpool’s mainstay goalkeeper, Alisson first defended AS Roma. The Brazilian player was brought in by the Giallorossi from Brazilian club Internacional. AS Roma had to redeem the player at a cost of 9 million euros.

During his AS Roma costume, Alisson was able to make 64 appearances and managed to get 26 clean sheets . Alisson was able to impress with AS Roma so Liverpool brought him to Anfield in 2018.

2. Stephan El Shaarawy

Stephan El Shaarawy is an Italian player who has strengthened AS Roma since the 2015/2016 season. At the beginning of his arrival, El Shaarawy was a loan player from AC Milan before being made permanent in the 2016/2017 season.

El Shaarawy was redeemed by AS Roma at a cost of 14 million euros. As a winger , he recorded 49 goals and 28 assists in 185 games for AS Roma. He briefly moved to a Chinese club, Shenhua, and returned to AS Roma last summer.

3. Edin Dzeko

In the 2015/2016 season, Edin Dzeko was loaned out by Manchester City to AS Roma for a full season. Looking impressive with the Giallorossi , Edin Dzeko decided to move to AS Roma permanently in the 2016/2017 season.

The Bosnian striker is able to become AS Roma’s goal machine on the front lines. Dzeko managed to score 119 goals and 55 assists in 260 matches. In fact, Dzeko had become the club’s top scorer in 4 consecutive seasons (2016/2017–2019/2020).

Dzeko’s gait ended with AS Roma last summer. He was brought in by another Italian club, Inter Milan.

4. Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger is a player on loan for AS Roma from Stuttgart in the 2015/2016 season. He was only made permanent in the following season, namely the 2016/2017 season. Positioned as a central defender, this German player is able to perform nicely in the defense sector.

Noted, Rudiger was able to play 72 appearances with AS Roma. However, he did not last long at AS Roma. Chelsea brought him to Stamford Bridge in 2017. Until now, his contract will expire with the Blues next summer.

5. Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is a player who is now strengthening Liverpool. Before defending the Reds , he had strengthened AS Roma since the 2015/2016 season. At first he was only a loan player from Chelsea. Salah was only made permanent by the Giallorossi the following season.

Together with AS Roma, Salah’s performance is growing. The Egyptian player is able to score 34 goals and 22 assists in 83 matches. His impressive performance with AS Roma made Liverpool bring him to Anfield Stadium in the 2017/2018 season.

Until now, Stephan El Shaarawy remains who is still defending AS Roma. He was able to bring AS Roma through to the semifinals of the UEFA Conference League. Can he bring AS Roma to win the event?
