Options for Jadon Sancho: Improve or Miss the 2022 World Cup
Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has reminded Manchester United star Jadon Sancho to improve his form under Erik ten Hag in order to be included in England’s squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund at the start of the 2021/22 season. The British winger was redeemed at a price that reached 85 million euros.
The arrival of Sancho was welcomed by the Red Devils supporters. The reason is, Sancho showed an impressive performance while defending Dortmund.
Unfortunately, Sancho has not shown his best performance after coming to Old Trafford. He scored five goals and three assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.
Poor Sancho Performance
Whelan assessed that Sancho’s performance in his first season with Manchester United was still not good enough. Therefore, the player has not been called up by England coach Gareth Southgate at this time.
That’s the reason why he’s not in the England team,” Whelan told Football Insider.
It took a long time for him to finally move to Man United – but it’s not been the easiest transition.“
Must Improve Performance
Whelan hopes Sancho can show his best performance under Erik Ten Hag. Otherwise, the 22-year-old will miss the 2022 World Cup.
“Hopefully under Ten Hag he can get more minutes and play in a system that suits him better.”
“We saw almost nothing in terms of consistency last season. It looks like a strange move at the moment. This is an area where England are overflowing with talent. He has to start working at the start of next season. Otherwise he is in danger of missing the Cup. World.”
