The story of the film Paddington 2 is a continuation of the previous film. The cute bear who usually wears a blue jacket and red hat, is said to have stayed at the Henry Brown (Hugh Bonneville) family home. The story is, one day, Paddington (Ben Whishaw) gets an assignment to buy a pop-up book. At the antique shop Mr. Gruber (Jim Broadbent). As a gift for Aunt Lucy’s (Imelda Staunton) 100th birthday. However, unfortunately, the gift has been stolen. Paddington then began his mission to find out who the thief was.

Like the first film, Paddington 2 is also a combination of live-action and animation that uses CGI (computer-generated imagery) technology. The director is still the same. Namely: Paul King. For the sake of working on this film, reportedly, Paul King refused an offer to gush Wonder (2017). In fact, the film adapted from the novel starred a number of well-known names. Starting from Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, to child actor Jacob Tremblay.

Btw, as if following in the footsteps of the first film, which brought Nicole Kidman as the villain, this Paddington 2 film also relies on well-known actors as its antagonists. Namely: Hugh Grant. Who plays Phoenix Buchanan. A narcissistic actor. Whose career is on the wane. Which, it is said, only starred in dog food commercials.

Meanwhile, in America, Paddington 2 has not been released. Initially, The Weinstein Company was the distributor of this 103 minute film. However, the sexual harassment case that hit the big boss, Harvey Weinstein, changed everything. StudioCanal doesn’t want the Paddington brand, as a family film, to be tainted because of the Weinstein case.

StudioCanal then looked for other distributors for the Americas region. And, after going through various processes, reportedly, Warner Bros.
