Manchester City has a new goalkeeper, his name is Stefan Ortega

Manchester – Manchester City has made an overhaul in the goalkeeper sector. Zack Steffen was released, then Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld was brought in .
Ortega’s arrival was inaugurated on Friday (1/7/2022), with a three-year contract. The 29-year-old goalkeeper came on a free transfer after Bielefeld’s contract was not extended.

Ortega is projected to be a cover for Ederson Moraes. With his experience of playing more than 200 games for Bielefeld since 2011, Ortega is expected to perform well when trusted to replace Ederson.

Because, Steffen who became a deputy for Ederson did not look good when played as a starter. One of them made a blunder when City were eliminated by Liverpool 2-3 in the FA Cup semifinal.

“This is a fantastic move for me. Manchester City are an extraordinary team, a squad of world-class players on every front,” Ortega told the club’s official website.

I have enjoyed my career in Germany and want to thank the fans of Arminia Bielefeld for their support.”

“I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to come to City and play in the Premier League. I can’t wait to play, meet my team-mates and start training with Pep and the coaching staff.”

With the arrival of Stefan Ortega , Zack Steffen will leave on loan to Middlesbrough. Currently Steffen is taking care of the necessary move in order to find flying hours.

Because Steffen will compete with Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner for the number one position in the United States national team at the 2022 World Cup.
