Man City draws goalless against Crystal Palace, this is the reason Guardiola doesn’t make substitutions

LONDON- Pep Guardiola insists he does not regret not making any substitutions. He also did not feel bad about the goalless result achieved by his Manchester City team at home to Crystal Palace .

The draw saw Manchester City fail to restore a six-point lead over Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.

Top-flight champions City head to Crystal Palace knowing victory will see them regain their lead over Liverpool, who beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at the weekend.

However, Guardiola’s side had to settle for just a point gained at Selhurst Park as twice they were denied by the crossbar through Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne either side of the break.

That leaves Liverpool, who are four points behind with a game in hand against Arsenal on Thursday, now with a chance to close City in the table.

If they win the game against Arsenal, the points of the two teams are only one point away.

But Guardiola, who left neither Gabriel Jesus nor Raheem Sterling off the bench in search of a winner, refused to criticize his side after they again failed to penetrate Patrick Vieira’s clever defence.

In the previous match, Palace recorded a 2-0 win in the match at the Etihad Stadium.

“There are still a lot of games to play, we have to win a lot of games but the way we played, no regrets about the team. We would have preferred to win of course but the game was played well”.

He added: “We played a very good game. In 90 minutes we conceded a few mistakes, but the way we played was very good.

“People are playing well, that’s why I didn’t make changes. We didn’t score, it was his fault”.

I am very happy with the performance and the way we played.”

There were at least two factors that caused Manchester City to fail to score in their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The two factors are the factor of the Crystal Palace goalkeeper who performed brilliantly and also the factor of City’s unlucky in this match.

Manchester City gave Liverpool the chance to narrow the deficit to a point after they picked up only a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park,

Manchester City can’t break the defence Crystal Palace ‘s defense in Tuesday’s match (15/3/2022).

They could only draw 0-0 at Selhurst Park which means Liverpool have the chance to narrow the gap at the top of the Premier League to just one point if they beat Arsenal in their next match.

There were two main factors that kept City from scoring on Monday night: Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita’s heroics and bad luck.

Joao Cancelo’s shot hit the post in the first half while Kevin de Bruyne’s strike also hit the crossbar in the second half.

Guardiola, however, chose not to make any changes throughout the game and, in the end, his persistence paid off.

City look set to be on track to defend their Premier League crown for a few weeks.

But the distance between them and the Reds is now four points with Jurgen Klopp’s side having played one less game.

Liverpool will face Arsenal on Thursday (17/3) at 03:15 WIB. This match is an opportunity for the Reds to reduce the difference in points with Man City.
