Liverpool ensured themselves to advance to the 2021/2022 Champions League final after winning 3-2 over Villarreal in the semi-final second leg which was held on Wednesday (4/5/2021) early morning WIB.
Having fallen behind 0-2 in the first half, Liverpool were able to rise and win 3-2 through goals from Fabinho, Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane in the second half. The Reds also qualified for the final with a 5-2 aggregate advantage.
Liverpool’s success in stepping into the Champions League final this season has many meanings. The Reds have the chance to win a second Champions League trophy under Jurgen Klopp in the last five years, with the Anfield-based side having now entered the final three times under the German manager.
Then, Liverpool also has the opportunity to win a quadruple at the end of the season. Having confirmed that the Carabao Cup title is theirs, the Reds are certain to appear in two finals, namely the FA Cup and Champions League, and compete in the top two Premier League positions with Man City.

The success of beating Villarreal and stepping into the 2021/2022 Champions League final is certainly a special note for the Reds. They are quite familiar with the Champions League in recent seasons.
Liverpool have reached three Champions League finals in the last five seasons . They won it once in the 2018/2019 season after losing to Real Madrid in the 2017/2018 Champions League final.

In addition, Jurgen Klopp also expressed his praise for Villarreal’s resistance. He admits Unai Emery’s men have made the game tough for Liverpool .
