Liverpool Lose to Inter Milan at Anfield, Klopp: They Are Very Good

LIVERPOOL – Liverpool coach , Jurgen Klopp, commented on the results of the match against Inter Milan in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 2021-2022. Having to lose to Milan in that match, Klopp also admitted that Inter Milan was a very good team.

Praise was not only given to Inter Milan alone. Klopp also praised another club from Milan, namely AC Milan. The reason, these two teams have made it difficult for Liverpool in the Champions League this season.

As is known, the Reds-Liverpool’s nickname- first faced AC Milan in the group phase. Despite the difficulties in their two meetings, Jurgen Klopp’s side finally managed to win the match (3-2 and 2-1).

Then, they met another representative from Milan in the round of 16. This time, the opponent is Inter Milan. In two meetings, the Reds have only won once.

Even so, their victory was very sweet because they managed to embarrass Inter Milan at the San Siro, Italy, with a score of 2-0. However, the Reds had to admit a 0-1 defeat at Anfield despite eventually qualifying for the quarter-finals due to winning on aggregate (2-1).

After meeting with two representatives of Milan, Klopp concluded that both teams were equally good. However, the characters of the two teams are very different.

According to Klopp, AC Milan applies a combination of young-senior players. While Inter Milan, the brand applies a man-marking scheme that is very difficult to resist.

“Very good, very good. Both teams are (very) good. (They have) a different arrangement,” Klopp said, quoted from Liverpool’s official website, Wednesday (9/3/2022).

“I like how they approach the game, the way they (AC Milan) play. Inter are probably more experienced and obviously have a different setup, with man-marking that is very difficult to fight against.

“I can imagine when the opponent sits deeper it might be more difficult for them, but in general the quality that both teams have is really outstanding,” concluded Klopp.

Apart from that, in the future, Liverpool will return to compete in the 2021-2022 English League. Jurgen Klopp’s men will face Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday 12 March 2022.
