Jennifer Lopez has movies to Spain . The actress has left Ben Affleck in Los Angeles to settle for a few weeks in our country, and more specifically in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria . But don’t panic, Bennifer is still as happy as ever , but professional reasons have led them to separate thousands of kilometers. And it is that the actress records her next film in the Canary Islands , where she has already been seen rehearsing in some of the most beautiful enclaves on the island.
Jennifer Lopez settles in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – next movie
The inhabitants of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are revolutionized by the arrival of Jennifer Lopez. The singer has settled on the island to record her next film, The mother, the new Netflix blockbuster. And it is that although the filming began in the month of December, an outbreak of Covid forced JLo and the rest of the team to suspend the recording and return home.
Now that the pandemic situation is under control, Jennifer Lopez has returned to the Canary Islands.
A unique enclave on the island
More than 20 trucks and an extensive team have transformed the island’s Plaza Cairasco and Literary Cabinet into a Havana-style tropical garden, the place where the action is supposed to take place. This building is one of the emblems of Las Palmas, as it was the old Cairasco Theater that belonged to the Poor Clares convent. It was built in 1883 under the orders of the architect López Echegarreta and was a revolution, as it opened the island to the architectural influences of modernism.
Currently, the façade of the Literary Cabinet is a point of reference on the city’s scene, something we owe to the architects Fernando Navarro and Rafael Massanet, who were in charge of its renovation at the end of the 19th century. This will now make the leap to the big screen with Jennifer Lopez, who records one of the scenes on the central balcony of the building.
JLo was already in the Canary Islands with Marc Anthony
However, this is not the first time that Jennifer Lopez has visited the Canary Islands. In 2005, the singer spent a few days in Las Palmas with her then-husband and father of her children, Marc Anthony, who was giving a concert in the city.
At that time they stayed at the Santa Catalina hotel , one of the oldest and most luxurious hotels in Spain. It was inaugurated in 1890 and great personalities such as Winston Churchill, Maria Callas, Brad Pitt or Ava Gardner have passed through it. It is currently completely renovated, since in 2021 the Barceló group renovated it from the inside, including it in its Royal Hideaway Hotels label. (Jennifer Lopez Hot)
