AC Milan won with a score of 2-1 over Inter Milan in the match week 23 of the 2021/2022 Serie A season, Sunday (6/2/2022) early morning WIB. The French trio in the Milan squad performed well in the Derbi della Madonnina.
Inter Milan took the lead in the 38th minute from Ivan Perisic’s goal. Then, Milan made the Stadio Gisuppe Meazza theirs after Olivier Giroud scored in the 75th and 78th minutes.
Apart from Giroud, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez also performed well for Milan. Then, there was Brahim Diaz who only played in the second half but was able to make a big contribution to the Rossoneri.
In the Inter camp, Simone Inzaghi made some decisions that were not right. The substitutions made were counterproductive for Inter, who performed quite well in the first half.
Check out a review of the winners and losers in the Inter Milan vs AC Milan duel below, Bolaneters :
Winner: Olivier Giroud
Milan fans may be very disappointed with Giroud’s performance in the first half. He had chances to get and lose a lot of balls. But, the second half everything changed.
Milan’s first goal started with Giroud’s effort to win the ball and ended with a typical striker instinct. Second goal? Very classy. Kick by turning the body and without looking at the goal.
Pecundang: Stefan de Vrij
De Vrij, like Skiniar, played it safe in the first half. In the second half, the Dutch defender became the months for Milan’s forwards.
De Vrij easily passed Tonali for Giroud’s first goal. In the process of the second goal, De Vrij’s offside trap failed. He also failed to block Giroud’s twist.
Winner: Mike Maignan
Milan probably wouldn’t have gotten the three points if it wasn’t for Maignan who was in goal. The French goalkeeper made four crucial saves to ensure Milan conceded only one goal.
In the first half, he made two important saves when blocking Dumfries and Dzeko. Then, there was the moment when Maignan had to come out of the box to cut the ball out of Calhanoglu’s feet at the end of the first half.
Winner: Sandro Tonali
Tonali gave Milan a lot of energy from the start. Milan’s first goal certainly couldn’t be separated from Tonali’s efforts to dribble and then feed it to Brahim Diaz.
Tonali released three shots throughout the match, including the one that led to a golden opportunity in the first half. Tonali is the Milan player who has made the most tackles, three times.
Loser: Arturo Vidal
Vidal replaced Calhanoglu in the 73rd minute. A rather odd change. Because, Calhanoglu performed well and became the center of Inter’s attack from the start of the match.
Vidal made the Inter midfield lose the rhythm of the game. He failed to become a destroyer. Vidal actually made Inter reduce the intensity of attacks from the middle area.
Winner: Brahim Diaz
Diaz only played in the 58th minute. He replaces the role of Kessie who is not optimal. Diaz makes Milan’s attack line more lively and has creativity.
Milan’s first goal could not be separated from the action of Diaz. The Spaniard’s kick was not perfect, but Giroud grabbed the equalizer.
Loser: Milan Skriniar
Skriniar actually looked good in the first half. But, in the second half, his performance declined. Milan’s first goal could not be separated from Skriniar’s lack of preparation.
Skriniar not only missed clearing the ball, but also didn’t see the two Milan two-man behind him. Skriniar tried to ask for offside by raising his hand at the referee, but the situation was onside.
Loser: Edin Dzeko
Dzeko played full time. He took three shots throughout the game. However, only one hit the target. The moment happened in the first half. The kick can be blocked by Mainnan.
In the second half, Dzeko struggled to get a chance. Especially after Lautaro was pulled out. Dzeko was moving wide and it wasn’t quite as effective.
Winner: Theo Hernandez
Theo can be a winner or a loser in this derby. From the point of view of Milan fans, Theo’s red card in the last minute was heroic. It was a very crucial moment for Milan.
However, for Inter fans, Theo’s actions can be considered as unsportsmanlike. Theo deliberately tackled Dumfries who had a chance to build a counter-attack.
Loser: Lautaro Martinez
Martinez didn’t play too badly. In the first half, he made two key passes for Dumfries and Barella. However, those two moments failed to become goals for Inter.
Apart from that crucial moment, Martinez didn’t get many dangerous chances. The Argentine only took one shot on target and didn’t bother Maignan too much.
Winner: Stefano Pioli
Pioli reads the game well. Two players who appeared under the best performance were immediately replaced, Kessie and Saelamaekers. Messias and Diaz being played made Milan much more alive.
Two changes that had a big impact for Milan. Then, Milan’s decision to be more aggressive and press high in the second half also turned sweet. Pioli made many decisive decisions in this duel.
