Harry Maguire is advised to leave MU and move to Newcastle

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy thinks Harry Maguire’s career at Manchester United is over. According to him, Maguire can still be a great addition to several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle.

In the 2022/23 season, Maguire has had a bad situation. The English defender was left out of Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils starting XI.taboola mid article

Ten Hag signed Lisandro Martinez in the summer of 2022 yesterday. The Argentinian defender is the main choice in the heart of defense alongside Raphael Varane.

Maguire only got the chance to play 14 times this season. From his appearance, the captain is only believed to be a starter seven times.

Still a Great Player

Murphy sees that Maguire has no future at Manchester United. Even so, Murphy has absolutely no doubts about the ability of the former Leicester player.

“No, but he has a good future elsewhere because he is still a great talent,” Murphy told talkSPORT.

“He’s got leadership, he studied at United. Yes, he’s had a bit of a bad career but a lot of good ones.

“He’s been brilliant on the international stage at major tournaments, he’s great in set-play, he’s a good character.

“He’s humble, he looks like a great kid, a good family, a good support network around him. He’s going to have a lot of fans.”

Moved to Newcastle

Murphy advised Maguire to leave Manchester United. According to him, Newcastle could be a good club for the 29-year-old player.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if someone like Eddie Howe chose Maguire as another option for them,” he continued.

“A club like Newcastle can do a lot worse than signing someone like Maguire.”

MU career is over

Given that Ten Hag is often benched, Murphy sees Maguire’s career at Manchester United as over.

“His career at Manchester United is finished. I think it is finished,” he added.

“It’s not that he can’t do a job there but sometimes managers take other paths. It seems like Erik ten Hag prefers other players.”
