Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea
Chelsea decided to bring back Lukaku in the transfer window last summer.
Lukaku was immediately transformed into a spearhead mainstay in Thomas Tuchel’s squad. So far, Lukaku has scored four goals in 11 games for Chelsea in all competitions.
Prior to Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku almost joined Man City
An interesting story told by Federico Pastorello . Romelu Lukaku’s agent admitted that the striker actually almost joined Manchester City in 2020.
Lukaku left England in 2019. He decided to move to Italy to defend Inter Milan.
During his two years in Italy, Lukaku managed to transform into one of the best strikers in Serie A. In his second season he managed to bring Inter to become champions, so Chelsea brought him in last summer.
The agent said that Lukaku actually almost joined Man City.
According to Pastorello, City are really serious about signing Lukaku. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Citizens changed their minds.
“During the pandemic the situation is very complicated to fly and meet the relevant parties,”
“I can say at first they were very serious about signing Rom, but they suddenly changed their minds or they weren’t ready to make the transfer a reality.
Pastorello also said that a transfer to City at that time was very difficult because Lukaku was still curious to win Serie A with Inter.
He [Lukaku] hasn’t won Serie A with Inter and he really wants to achieve that.”
“With that situation, moving clubs became an impossible option to take. Then City then chose to focus on signing Harry Kane last summer,” he said.
Lukaku has been getting a lot of attention lately.
This is because the striker was suddenly barren in recent weeks.
