Fabrizio Romano Leaks Manchester United Transfer Priorities in January 2022

European transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano provides a leak regarding Manchester United’s transfer plan in January 2022. Romano claims that MU will prioritize the transfer of defensive midfielders.

Ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window, there were many transfer rumors that hit Manchester United. The Red Devils have been linked with a number of top players from various positions.

Of the most rumors circulating, MU is more associated with midfielders. There are several top midfielders who are rumored to be the target of the Red Devils.

Romano confirmed that Manchester United were indeed hunting for a midfielder in January 2022. Specifically, the Red Devils will target a defensive midfielder.

Urgent needs
According to Romano’s report, Ralf Rangnick is prioritizing the transfer of a defensive midfielder. Because he thinks Manchester United is currently in dire need of a defensive midfielder.

In the MU squad, there is only Nemanja Matic who plays as a pure defensive midfielder. So far, there are Fred and Scott McTominay who are often played as defensive midfielders.

Rangnick wants a pure defensive midfielder who can be a successor to Matic. So he asked MU management to bring in a new defensive midfielder.

Two Targets
According to Romano, Manchester United currently have two targets for a defensive midfielder position. They are Amadou Haidara and Boubacar Kamara.

Romano confirmed that Rangnick was in love with these two players. He considered these two players could improve the performance of the MU midfield.

But Romano said that there had been no real movement for these two players. Manchester United have not opened talks with Marseille or RB Leipzig regarding the transfer of these two players.

Start Practicing
Manchester United itself has just returned to training. After their squad was off for about a week due to the large number of COVID-19 cases.

MU is now preparing for the boxing day match. The Red Devils are scheduled to meet Newcastle at St James Park.
