Intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) has dispatched Task Force X led by Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). Task Force X aka the Suicide Squad Team is reinforced by Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), TDK (Nathan Willion), Captain Bomerang (Jai Courtney), Mongal (Mayling Ng), and others.
They were sent to the Corto Maltese area, which was heating up politically. Task Force X is asked to destroy the Jotunheim laboratory which is believed to be conducting a secret experiment called Project Starfish.
Just landed in Corto Maltese, Task Force X was bombarded with firearms and explosives. Only Harley Quinn survived and was detained by President Silvio Luna (Juan Diego Botto) and Major General Mateo Suarez (Joaquin Cosio).
Task Force X Volume 2
Not wanting to give up, Amanda sent Task Force X volume 2 which was strengthened by Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), and Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior).
This mission begins by finding someone who knows very well about the Starfish project. There was one name, namely The Thinker (Peter Capaldi).
From the opening scene, we know that The Suicide Squad is not for 13 years and over, let alone all ages. Full of blood, brutal, and closer to the middle of the film, the sense of humor that flashes in the interactions between characters tends to be sarcasm.
Strong Vision and Art
This is because the main characters are inmates in various cases from drunk driving to high-level crimes. So there’s no reason to be polite. Inconsiderate is their middle name.
The early minutes showed how James Gunn had a strong vision with a number of artistic ways to strengthen the identity of this film. The flow is no-nonsense. The movement of space and time is characterized by the use of a number of properties as well as informative visual effects.
Most of the characters in this film are familiar to the audience, but in the hands of James Gunn their motivation becomes even stronger. In the midst of recklessness and applause, there is still one thing in common among the members of Task Force X, namely the heart.
For this one, James Gunn goes the old-fashioned way, which is to give the characters quite a detailed background with a different method. Ratcatcher 2’s characterization becomes more complete through flashbacks.
Bloodsport is no longer alone after a big fuss with his son. Polkadot Man explains himself through oral conversation and the presence of a key character that makes the audience understand. This variety of information makes the audience more affectionate and far from bored.
Interesting, watching James Gunn painstakingly bring the story to life with world-class conflicts, then clashing the heroes through character friction and the emergence of twin suns: Peacemaker and Bloodspot.
More Crazy Levels
As a result, The Suicide Squad doesn’t allow us to leave for a few seconds. This film has become more stylish thanks to the performance of cinematographer Henry Braham. Gunfights feel alive, the effects of war look real.
Plus the presentation of a fight by utilizing the reflection of the iron head cover without reducing the nervous sensation. The Suicide Squad takes suicide squads to an even crazier level.
James Gunn perfected Suicide Squad (2016), which drew criticism from the audience and critics. After leaving theaters, there are a number of important notes regarding The Suicide Squad .
First, the villains who play in this story develop according to the standard from zero to hero in a unique way. James Gunn’s definition of victory doesn’t just give a happy ending at the end of the story.
The true victory is overcoming one’s weaknesses such as overcoming phobias, using revenge as a weapon to save people, and much more.
Margot and Harley Quinn
Second, The Suicide Squad reflects the foresight in choosing players. The Bloodspot in Idris Elba’s hands is more powerful. David Dastmalchian as a polka-dotted man looks ridiculous, inviting sympathy but at the same time he is the “if you give me a chance, I can do it.”
Last but not least, whoever chose Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was a genius. And whoever will be trusted to replace Margot Robbie as the Joker’s lover will carry an enormous burden. You know exactly what this means. Good luck .
