Saul Niguez’s career with Chelsea will end sooner. As reported by Marca, the Blues will return Saul to Atletico Madrid in the January 2021 transfer market.
The London Blue team signed the 26-year-old player from Atletico Madrid on August 31, 2021. Chelsea loaned Saul from Atletico until the end of this season, with an option to buy.
The presence of Saul Niguez is expected to increase creativity in the Blues midfield. However, he actually struggled to get a place in the Chelsea main squad.
He was unable to compete with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, and Mason Mount who more often occupy posts in the Blues’ midfield. As a result, Saul Niguez has only appeared in five games with Chelsea.
Of those five matches, Saul has only played once for the full 90 minutes, namely when Chelsea won 5-4 over Southampton in the fourth round of the Carbao Cup this season, 27 October. Saul Niguez also recorded only one assist from those five matches.
Want It Back Faster
With minimal contribution, Saul Niguez will soon leave Stamford Bridge. As reported by Marca , the Blues intend to return the player to Atletico in January 2020.
This situation also ensures that Chelsea are not interested in making Saul permanent from Atletico. However, Saul Niguez could not return to Atletico Madrid early.
The reason is, there is no clause in the agreement that can make the London Blue Team decide against Saul Niguez unilaterally, before the loan period ends.
Haven’t Give Up
Meanwhile, Saul will not give up at Chelsea. The Spanish midfielder is determined to continue to work hard in order to get a place in the Blues core team.
He will also train intensively during the international break to further convince Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. In addition, Spanish players such as Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are ready to help Saul adapt to Chelsea more quickly.

Premier League: Chelsea Called Reluctant to Permanent Saul Niguez
Premier League giants Chelsea reportedly have no plans to make Saul Niguez’s midfielder status permanent when his loan period from Atletico Madrid runs out.
On the last day of the summer transfer window, Chelsea signed Saul from Atletico on a season-long loan. The presence of Saul is expected to make the Blues’ midfield stronger.
Unfortunately, Saul has so far not been able to prove his quality in the Chelsea squad. Until now, the 26-year-old midfielder has only been trusted to appear three times by Thomas Tuchel.
Saul was immediately played as a starter when Chelsea faced Aston Villa in the Blues’ first game after signing the midfielder. However, he performed poorly and only lasted one round.
Then, Saul got two more playing opportunities from Tuchel, one each against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and Malmo in the Champions League stage. In total he has only played 146 minutes in the Blues uniform.
Now as reported by La Razon, Chelsea also feel unimpressed with Saul and have no intention of making the Spain international’s status permanent in their team.
Aim for Marcelo Brozovic
Instead, Chelsea are rumored to be looking to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in the summer transfer window next year.
Brozovic’s contract with Inter will expire at the end of this season. Currently the two parties are still holding talks about a new contract, but no agreement has been reached.
This situation could clearly be used by Chelsea to woo Brozovic to move to London, with PSG and Newcastle reportedly also wanting the Croatian midfielder.
