The Oscar 2022 or the 94th Academy Awards has officially announced all the winners this March 28. In this year’s event, the film that managed to bring home the “Best Picture” trophy which became the most prestigious Oscar award was CODA (2021). In this category, CODA managed to beat Dune (2021) which successfully dominated the list of winners with a total of six trophies.
For those of you who don’t know, CODA is an English remake of the French film La Famille Bélier (2014). CODA itself is an acronym for child of deaf adults or children raised by adults with hearing loss or deafness. In this film, the child is Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones) who grows up with all her family members who are deaf.
At the 2022 Oscars, CODA received a total of three nominations from 23 categories in the event. Amazingly, CODA managed to bring home all the trophies from the nominations it got. Starting from “Best Picture”, “Best Supporting Actor” for Troy Kotsur, and “Best Adapted Script” written by Siân Heder.
The success of CODA at the 2022 Oscars is also a very big achievement in the career of Siân Heder who in addition to being a writer is also involved as a film director. Because, this is the first time that Heder’s film has received an Oscar nomination in his entire career as a director or screenwriter.
In addition to the 2022 Oscar, CODA also won the “Best Picture” award at several other award events. Starting from the Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards and also the NAACP Image Awards.
