, Angus MacLane, Chris were the only people who were actually considered for this role. In addition, the inclusion of Captain America as Buzz in Lightyear is also to distinguish the original Buzz character in this film and the toys in Toy Story .

“I wanted this film to have something like gravity and seriousness, but also have actors who can bring comedy to that seriousness. He is the first and only choice. I don’t have a number 2,” Angus told Collider .

Angus praised Chris who he felt really understood exactly the material of this film. Chris is also considered to have a sense of responsibility to find a translation of the character, for the larger context of this sci-fi film and can actually convey it. According to Angus, he was the creative partner throughout the process.
