Barcelona have reportedly agreed a personal agreement with Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta who will be on a free transfer this summer.
The 32-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the club was unable to extend his stay due to the sanctions against club owner Roman Abramovich suspected of being involved in the Russia-Ukraine confrontation.
A recent report claimed that Azpilicueta had agreed a contract extension with Chelsea, but Roman’s case brought negotiations to a standstill. He will also leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for the Spain international, and Football Insider reports that La Blaugrana have now reached an agreement to sign him next season.
The report adds that Azpilicueta has turned down a new contract offer from Chelsea because it would not be realized anyway, with the former Marseille man now set to leave the European champions after 10 years in West London.
Azpilicueta has won the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Club World Cup during his decade at Chelsea . He recorded 16 goals and 56 assists in 463 games in all competitions

However, the Blues are unable to conduct transfer business or offer players new contracts while the sanctions are in place, and fans are concerned about the capital club’s future in the Premier League.

Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta will become free agents at the end of the season. Christensen will join Barcelona.
Chelsea’s bank accounts and credit cards have reportedly been temporarily frozen amid the sanctions against Abramovich, while jersey sponsor Three have also suspended their partnership with the European champions.
