Challenge Remy Gardner in MotoGP, Raul Fernandez: We’ll see who is the best

KTM Factory Racing Tech 3 racer , Raul Fernandez , challenges his tandem, Remy Gardner , in MotoGP 2022. Both debutants, Fernandez believes next season will be the right moment for him to see who is better between himself and Gardner . This he said via Motorsport Total, Thursday (12/23/2021).

Gardner and Fernandez had surprised people because they got along well throughout Moto2 2021, where they teamed up at Red Bull KTM Ajo and fought for the world title. Gardner also locked the title in Valencia, and Fernandez finished runner up with only four points behind. However, just a few days later, a feud erupted.

Ahead of the MotoGP test at Jerez, in November 2021, Fernandez accused KTM Ajo of worrying Gardner and paving his way to becoming a champion. He admits that he does not get guidance from KTM Ajo, and believes Gardner is not stronger than him, as evidenced by the fact that Fernandez won eight wins, while Gardner won five.

Remy Gardner More Experienced in Moto2
Remy is world champion, he has more points. mentally, I am the champion,” said Fernandez via Motosport Espana at the time.

Through Motorsport Total, Fernandez admits that he is aiming for the title of the best debutant in MotoGP 2022. As a debutant with Gardner, he believes this is the right moment to prove himself better. When they were a team in Moto2, Gardner was more experienced because he had competed in that class for six seasons.

“We all think about this (best debutant title). But my first target is to fight with Remy and show who is better in the same conditions. In 2021, he has the advantage because he has six years of experience in Moto2. that,” he said.

Can’t believe I will be against Marc Marquez
On the other hand, despite the ambition to smoke Gardner, Fernandez also finds it hard to believe that he is now down in the class of kings. When Dorna Sports released the 2022 MotoGP racer roster last November, the 21-year-old couldn’t believe he was sharing the track with eight-time world champion Marc Marquez.

“When the list of riders was published, I saw my name next to names like Marc Marquez, Maverick Vinales, Aleix and Pol Espargaro. I couldn’t believe it. It was really great. I need time to really realize it. Now, I have to prepare the best you can,” he concluded.

Fernandez and Gardner will return to the track in a special shakedown test for debutants and test riders at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia, on 31 January-2 February 2022. After that, they will join other MotoGP riders at the same track on 5-6 February 2022.
