After successfully embracing the 2021/2022 Carabao Cup title, Liverpool are rumored to be leaving their star player, Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah is predicted not to be in Liverpool’s uniform next season, this news sticks out because the mainstay winger has not signed a new contract.
Reporting from Transfermarkt data, Salah is still under contract with Liverpool until the end of June 2023.
However, the unfinished salary agreement has led to speculation that the Reds will release Salah in the summer transfer window.
If not, then Salah has the opportunity to leave for free at the end of the following season.
While talks regarding Salah’s contract are still being discussed, Liverpool are said to have started looking for alternatives if forced to let go of their star.
According to a Football Insider report on Saturday (26/2), one of the alternatives in question is targeting Benfica star Darwin Nunez.
Benefica itself is rumored to have intended to sell their flagship striker at a high price.
The player nicknamed the Incarnation of Luis Suarez is priced at around 55 million euros (equivalent to Rp. 888 billion) by Benefica.
However, this nominal can certainly be an obstacle for the Reds, who are known to be rarely extravagant in spending their money.
On the other hand, the relationship between Salah and Liverpool actually occurs in mutualism, considering that both can shine together.
Most recently, Salah also became an important figure when Liverpool brought home the 2021/2022 Carabao Cup title after winning 1-0 from a penalty shootout over Chelsea, Sunday (27/2).(*)
