5 Anime Protagonists Who Don’t Have Big Dreams

Almost every anime protagonist , especially shounen , always has big goals that motivate their journey. The anime series has always been an inspiring story because it focuses on ordinary people who want to become big people.

Even so, not all anime protagonists have big aspirations. Instead of wanting to be the greatest or the strongest, some anime protagonists just want to live a normal life, have enough money, and even just want to be lazy.

Well, here are five anime protagonists who don’t have big ideals. Curious who the characters are ? Check out the following reviews.

1. Gintoki Sakata (Gintama)
Gintoki Sakata is the main protagonist in one of the best comedy anime series of all time entitled Gintama . Even though Gintama is a shounen series , Gintoki doesn’t have big dreams, such as reclaiming Earth from Amanto or becoming the strongest samurai in the universe.

Gintoki is the type to just go with the flow. Gintoki just gave up when he couldn’t beat Amanto in battle. This is in contrast to his two friends, Kotaro Katsura and Shinsuke Takasugi, who start a rebellion to reclaim Earth from Amanto’s clutches.

2. Saitama (One Punch Man)
Saitama is known as the most overpowered hero ever in anime history. Saitama has a strength strong enough to defeat all his enemies with just one hit. Because of his strength, Saitama began to feel bored with his profession as a hero.

Basically, Saitama doesn’t want to be the number one hero in the world. As he always said, Saitama became a hero only in carrying out his hobby. As long as his hobby can meet his monthly expenses, it will be enough for Saitama.

3. Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)
Spike Spiegel is the main protagonist in the popular classic series Cowboy Bebop . Spike seemed to have no passion because he was often seen being lazy. Spike only moves when he is carrying out his duties as a Bounty Hunter.

As a Bounty Hunter, Spike and his crew travel across the galaxy to perform certain tasks and earn money. Spike has no particular goal and he just wants to survive doing his job as a bounty hunter.

4. Houtarou Oreki (Hyouka)
Houtarou Oreki is the main protagonist in the mystery anime series Hyouka. He is known as one of the most genius characters ever in anime. However, despite his genius, Houtarou is also known as a lazy character.

Instead of doing activities like a teenager his age, Houtarou prefers to spend most of his time lazing around. Houtarou admitted that he chose to be lazy because he wanted to save energy. Unlike other genius characters, the only thing Houtarou wanted was to be lazy.

Possessing incredible psychokinetic powers, Kusuo Saiki is known as one of the strongest anime characters ever. Even so, Kusuo’s strength is precisely the source of Kusuo’s problems. Instead of helping him, Kusuo’s power often gets Kusuo into a lot of trouble.

Despite his immense strength, Kusuo actually just wants to live a quiet life. Kusuo didn’t want to get into any trouble because of his power. He also wants to be separated from the people around him who continue to annoy him.

You could say, the five characters above are indeed very unique characters. Despite playing the main protagonists, they don’t have a big purpose that makes their story inspiring. However, despite it all, the five characters above are still entertaining in their own way.
