American MotoGP FP3 Results: Fastest Quartararo, 4th Marquez


Yamaha racer, Fabio Quartararo managed to become the fastest in the third free test session (FP3) of the American MotoGP at the Austin Circuit, Saturday (9/4
Quartararo carved a time of 2 minutes 02.361 seconds. While Marc Marquez is in fourth position behind Enea Bastianini and Jack Miller.

Bastianini managed to carve the fastest time at the start of FP3 but his position was shifted by Takaaki Nakagami entering the middle of the free test. Nakagami has the right to occupy the top position after carving a record time of 2 minutes 03.286 seconds after circling one lap of the Austin Circuit.

The top position changed again 15 minutes before FP3 ended. Suzuki’s Joan Mir carved the best time, followed by Aleix Espargaro and Nakagami.

Bastianini, who had left the top three, was able to record the fastest time again. The Qatar MotoGP champion carved a time of 2 minutes 02.420 seconds.

The 2021 MotoGP world champion, Fabio Quartararo also burst into the top position. El Diablo 0.364 seconds adrift of Bastianini.

Marquez had entered the second position of the fastest racer towards the end of FP3. However, Marquez in the end had to settle for dropping to fourth position because he was shifted by another racer at the end of FP3.

The top position belongs to Quartararo, followed by Bastianini and Jack Miller in the top three of the American MotoGP FP3.

Quartararo Spreads Threats to MotoGP America

Yamaha racer, Fabio Quartararo is confident that he can appear fast and competitive in the American MotoGP this week.
Quartararo ended the first day of free practice sitting in third place. The score was better with the target he had previously set.

“It’s really nice to be in the top three. We still need to improve our speed but actually our goal is to end the first day in the top five,” said Quartararo, quoted from Yamaha’s official website.

Success on the first day made Quartararo optimistic that he could compete and appear competitive in the American MotoGP. According to Quartararo, the condition of the asphalt also affects his performance on a Yamaha in the American MotoGP this time.

“The new asphalt is very different from last year. Last time we lost the pleasure of riding the bike here, but this year we were able to really do well at corners 2, 3 and 10.”

“We were really able to go fast. It looks like we can finally compete again at Circuit of The America (COTA),” said Quartararo.

Currently Quartararo is in fifth position in the 2022 MotoGP standings. Quartararo has 35 points, 10 points behind Aleix Espargaro who is the leader of the standings.
