Pique became the target of ridicule by Espanyol fans. Regarding the controversial comments of the 28-year-old defender who last week made fun of Espanyol fans for not being able to fill the stadium by themselves.
That is why, Espanyol fans took retaliatory action by putting up insulting banners to Pique’s lover, Shakira, when Barcelona visited Cornella de Prat in the Copa del Rey event last Thursday.
Former Spain coach, Javier Clemente, regretted Pique’s attitude. According to him, the former Manchester United defender has gone too far. That’s why he got too much of a reply as well.
“Yes, he was wrong. Pique sometimes crosses the line to be like a fan of the club or even a hooligan,” Clemente said as reported by the Spanish sports website, Marca, Friday 15 January 2016.
“He is a Barcelona hooligan and without him realizing he is actually a very important player for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. He should stop acting like that (fans),” continued the Libyan national team coach.
In addition to being involved in problems with Espanyol fans, Pique has also been involved in problems with a number of Real Madrid players and fans of the Spanish national team. Of course it’s related to the ridiculous comments he often makes. (one)
