Migrations: how to request an appointment to get a passport in June 2023

The National Superintendence of Migrations announced that will expedite the delivery of appointments pTo process the Peruvian passport, due to the arrival of the batch of notebooks that allow you to travel abroad. Do you know how you should do to get a quota?

Peru, after the pandemic, began to face a shortage of the document and getting an appointment became quite an odyssey: the given quotas became insufficient for such a demand. There are people who have waited years for an appointment. As of April, an estimated half a million were still seeking to apply for their passport.

The Minister of the Interior, Vicente Romero, announced on May 19, 2023, the authorization of more than 300,000 attentions for the electronic passport process. On Monday it was reported that 122,000 appointments were granted over the weekend.

The National Superintendence of Migrations will enable more appointments and attentions as the following passport deliveries arrive. And it is that, according to what was announced in April by its owner Armando García, the direct purchase of the lot is for a total of 546,000 passports.

HOW IS THE MOST WAY TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY PASSPORT?

The Director of Operations of this organization, Cynthia Otani, indicated that the virtual appointment system is friendlier, since it allows the user to enter their basic information and schedule their attention in a simple way. Know the steps to follow:

Step 1: Payment

  • Pay passport fee: S/ 98.60 at Banco de la Nación or Págalo.pe

Step 2: Book your appointment

  • Enter the passport appointment system.
  • Enter your personal data (ID, date of birth, email, cell phone number)
  • Indicate the date and time you want to go to a Migration office to process your passport.

NOTE: Migrations indicates that the procedure is personal and asks not to go to processors to avoid exposing your personal data.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO GET MY PASSPORT?

In order to apply for a passport, you must have the following documentation:

  • Payment receipt of the passport fee (S/ 98.60) at the Banco de la Nación or págalo.pe.
  • ID in good condition
  • Not having electoral fines
  • Printed or digital electronic appointment.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY PASSPORT TO BE GIVEN TO ME?

The delivery of the passport is made the same day of the appointment after meeting all the requirements. If for any reason you cannot collect your passport, you have 60 days to do so at the office where you did the paperwork. What happens if I don’t? If it is not collected within that period, it will be destroyed and you will have to process a new one.
