How to remove mold from the shower curtain: the lemon trick

Before explaining the step by step of this homemade trick, it is good that you check the manufacturer’s instructions on the label to see if it can be put in the washing machine or if it must be cleaned by hand.

To restore its initial appearance and look like it was just bought, we are going to use lemon, a natural ingredient with strong disinfectant and whitening properties.

The first thing to remove moisture stains is to submerge the bathroom curtain in hot water for twenty minutes and add the juice of 5 lemons. Let it rest and take it out.

The next step is to wash it regularly in the washing machine or by hand with detergent. If there are still mold stains, apply lemon directly to the area and leave it on for 30 more minutes, then rub with a brush and rinse. The result will surprise you.

How to remove black mold on curtains with other ingredients

1. White vinegar

This product has acidic compounds that prevent oxidation. It also prevents the formation of black spots and the growth of bacteria and fungi.

The idea is that you pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the washer drawer and run it on the common cycle. You can also add this ingredient in a spray bottle and spray it every day on the curtain to prevent the appearance of this problem.

2. Baking soda

Its properties help fight microbes, so you should mix half a cup of baking soda with two cups of hot water and pour the liquid into the usual washing machine cycle. This will remove mold stains from bathroom curtains.

Now, if you prefer to wash by hand, sprinkle a little all over the curtain and where the affected areas are, let it sit for a few minutes so that the baking soda soaks in well and then rub with a cloth and hot water. Rinse several times to remove all the remains and be able to hang it again.
